March 14, 201313 yr Spent some time on the Desalvo today. All I have left is tires, which should be showing up tomorrow, bar wrap, frame saver stickers and coming up with some kind of pedals. Some of the Mango goodness. and the RoadID kit came in today. Really nice piece of kit and with my medical issues I think 40 bucks well spent.
March 14, 201313 yr Sweet Jeff! Also love the CK45 Mango hubs on the DeSalvo. Did you build those wheels? What rims did you use?
March 14, 201313 yr Nope, wheels were built by Fresh Bikes my shop. I bought the stand and all the tools to build my own wheels but I have not gotten up the nerve yet. They are H Plus Son rims. I am thinking I will have to replace the black Tektro wide gap brakes with a set of these very soon. Edited March 14, 201313 yr by VPI
March 15, 201313 yr thanks jeff. some of those anodized made in USA bike parts get pico/bhse parts delayed because they're considered higher priority.
March 15, 201313 yr I'll send my BHSE parts directly to my bike shop then so they can get the anodizing done more quickly on the high priority bike parts schedule.
March 15, 201313 yr you know how many times i've heard "it's going to be a while. we just got in 500 of these bike parts and they need them right away" if you can pass my parts off as a brake rotor we're in business Edited March 15, 201313 yr by justin
March 15, 201313 yr Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk just put it on the scale, it's 31.8lb with the pedals, water bottle holder, and empty bag Edited March 15, 201313 yr by justin
March 15, 201313 yr just looked at the angle and thats not where i remember setting it, probably ended up different as i was tightening it.
March 15, 201313 yr Road 6 miles after work on the Trek (Raleigh is still in pieces ), 33 degrees, not bad. Still need to make some adjustments to the Trek, like wider bars than the stock ones. Also need to get something else on this for pedals as the platform ones on it suck. It has been so long since I have ridden without some type of foot retention that it feels really awkward. Feet slip all over these things.
March 15, 201313 yr Yeah, handlebars need to be rotated 40-60* forward, I'd say. probably did slip when you were tightening them. Lookin' good, Justin! Now, to get you a shock pump and Camelbak and Stan's Tubeless kit and dropper post and... **BRENT**
March 15, 201313 yr Dammit! http://www.airbornebicycles.com/products/99-delta.aspx 53/55/57cm Airborne disc brake/Apex equipped cross bikes, 749$ shipped. REALLY wish I could do this right now. We'll see. They were supposedly sold out, but they found a few and put 'em up earlier today. Rack mounts, clearance for I think a 42 or 44mm tire. **BRENT**
March 15, 201313 yr just put it on the scale, it's 31.8lb with the pedals, water bottle holder, and empty bag Dude, those are riser bars, not mustache bars. When viewed from the front, the straight outer half of the bar should be level or slope slightly upwards, and the brake levers & shifters should slope downwards by 30-45 degrees when viewed from the side. March 15, 201313 yr I know links to Kickstarter are lame, but these guys are in a maker business group I am part of, and I thought people here might be interested. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1054587410/the-bikespike?ref=email
March 15, 201313 yr Jim, Is Peter also using the Bridgestone you and he refurbed? Or was that for you Edited March 15, 201313 yr by Pars
March 15, 201313 yr Actually it is a Panasonic and fortunately for me it is still (slightly) too big for him. You are prescient though as the Bridgestone will get a major overhaul this summer as I can now ride the Panasonic.
March 15, 201313 yr Author Yay for Peter. So, I'm definitely planning on getting out for the first time in awhile tomorrow morning. It's supposed to be in the high 30s in the morning, so let's see how my plan plays out in reality.
March 15, 201313 yr Finished up (mostly) the Desalvo right about sun down so I just have some crappy high ISO pics. I still need to come up with some pedals and the Zipp silver skewers haven't shown up yet. Edited March 15, 201313 yr by VPI
