May 12, 200818 yr Mogami 2534 is a jacketed star-quad? no braiding required? I always take the jacket off because it's thick and heavy, and I wanted to try the braid since it won't unwind or anything (although I doubt it unwinds anyway).

May 20, 200818 yr Made a pair of interconnects using some UP-OCC 22ga I bought from Nate. I modified Chris VH's silver IC recipe, using a core of 1/4" polyethylene tubing, and spiraled the wires on 2" turns, wrapped it with teflon tape, then some techflex I had laying around. They are actually more flexible than I though they would be (not bad at all). I made a headphone cable using the silver IC recipe with some 26ga jupiter cotton-covered copper, wrapped in teflot tape. It was super flexible, but then I realized I couldn't fit the whole assembly through the boot of the 4 pin neutrik xlr. me-> <-me Talk about hours of lost time. I'm just using some Mogami w2893 for the 650 cable for now. I'm not complaining I've thought about using some of the Neotech stuff, but I hate to use any solid conductor bigger than 26ga.

Man, just cut the friggen boot and finish it all off with some shrink if you have to. Or is the hard, inner diameter that the cable assembly won't pass through? If so, that's a pretty thick cable.
May 20, 200818 yr Yeah, right? Of course, I've already disassembled the whole thing and tried to do something else with it. I ended up just getting pissed off and doing the mogami cable super quick so I could actually listen to music (I sent the cable I had been using to John Broskie as he wanted to try his HD-650's balanced).

June 30, 200818 yr I'm bummed that I lost my Mogami ICs w/Pro-Fis. I think airport security took 'em after CJ08. Now I also need a pair of balanced ICs. I have everything I need, ready to go. Just need to find the time...

July 6, 200817 yr Thanks, Nate, I'm going to try to build it tonight. Haven't done it in a while--can you guys remind me: For a short XLR-XLR IC, I just need to use Pins 2&3 right? Do I need to tie shield to Pin 1 at one end or is that unnecessary?

July 13, 200817 yr I find the Neutrik XLRs tough because a) I don't have a workspace, so I'm always crammed up somewhere and I have the shittiest helping hands on the face of the earth and can never get a good grip/angle. I need a Panavise. Big time. EDIT: Nice job, btw, reks.
July 13, 200817 yr The Nuetrik XLR's tough? Get a vice Vincent, they're easy as can be if you have something to hold them and they're impossible to beat for the price.
