February 4, 201016 yr Author Yeah that's one of the great (or bad, depending) things about watches -- you really can't make a bad decision. Sinn, Omega, and Panerai are all great watches. I really want a Sinn U Black myself. But I'm only just getting to the point where I'm starting to worry about the movements -- priorly, it's all been about how it looks and how durable the case is.
February 4, 201016 yr The smallest watch I wear is a 40mm and I think it is a bit small for my wrist. I really like the big watches but I tend to go with something smaller, less noticeable for a daily beater. That being said it is bonus time again and I intend to buy a watch or two. I have seen some really interesting watches in this thread and the big ones always catch my eye so I will probably lean towards a 46mm size this time. Let me know if your Seamaster needs adopting.
February 5, 201016 yr I was exaggerating when I said 8.5". I'm just jealous because I have skinny ass wrists.
February 6, 201016 yr Big, black, and cheap ($76). Invicta Russian divers @ World of Watches daily deal: WorldofWatches Daily Watch Deal Steal good for only 24 hours
February 6, 201016 yr Interesting watch. I am not sure how I could live with that chain hanging off the crown waterproofing element.
February 7, 201016 yr Author I kept hearing the word canteen, but it never registered until the other day. Someone was complaining about the crown, and whether or not they could do something about that, and how Invicta'd never do anything about it, but they might make it a lefty, which would be good for righty's.
February 7, 201016 yr Man, I can remember now why I stopped buying watches. There are just way too many that I want after reading a bit on the watch forums. Bell & Ross, Panerai, IWC, Breitling, Sinn. It is hard to pick just one.
February 7, 201016 yr That's why I won't go to those forums. I think Dusty is trying to lure me in to the madness, though. And I feel the pull....
February 7, 201016 yr Author Man, I can remember now why I stopped buying watches. There are just way too many that I want after reading a bit on the watch forums. Agreed. The best advice I can give (and remember from whom this is coming) is, set some guidelines for yourself. Like don't get two watches that look the same, even if they have different movements or whatever. Or a rule I'm going to start laying down for myself is find out what movement is inside -- no cheesy movements. Dinny, you only want one watch.
February 7, 201016 yr Author Hey, Dan, they have an Invicta Automatic for $75 here. Not sure how long they'll last, though. Something about "half-time"...? EDIT: Looks like you can only buy one with the discount, original URL. Plus, there are a bunch of other automatics. Edited February 7, 201016 yr by Dusty Chalk
February 8, 201016 yr This is really geeky, did it ever make it to production, I wonder? Digital Sand Time Watch Concept is a Hourglass 2.0 | Clocks/Alarms at Hardware Sphere (Heretical in the world of analogue watches, I am sure.)

Yeah I am definitely not going to go into full collector mode but I am trying to find one or two that I really like and won't look too far out of place in a suit environment. Most of the ones I like are a bit over the top for typical business attire but I am thinking I don't care.
February 8, 201016 yr Author I am fortunate in that software engineers have a reputation for eccentricity that I feel a need to perpetuate.
February 10, 201016 yr Yesterday I discovered that I really do not even need to go to a watch store to try on the watches I have been looking at as they are everywhere in my office. 4 Panerais, 3 Bell & Ross, 1 Ulysse Nardin Black Ocean (which I wasn't looking at but now really like after trying it on), 1 IWC Aquatimer Chronograph, 2 JLC Master Compressor Diving Chronos, and 1 Hublot Big Bang All Black. The B&R wear a lot better than I thought they would based on looking at pictures. I really like the JLC and the UN but did not care for the Hublot as I do not want to have to focus on the watch to tell what time it is. It looks really good though.

I've started wanting another watch for everyday wear and came across mondaines. WANT
February 10, 201016 yr I've started wanting another watch for everyday wear and came across mondaines. I like mine a whole lot. It's relatively slim and very legible, which is the most important thing for me in a watch. I do wish the crown was a bit easier to grasp, though.
February 10, 201016 yr Author Whats a cheesy movement?I'm not sure I know -- I actually need to educate myself on movements. But there are definitely better movements and worse movements.Yesterday I discovered that I really do not even need to go to a watch store to try on the watches I have been looking at as they are everywhere in my office. 4 Panerais, 3 Bell & Ross, 1 Ulysse Nardin Black Ocean (which I wasn't looking at but now really like after trying it on), 1 IWC Aquatimer Chronograph, 2 JLC Master Compressor Diving Chronos, and 1 Hublot Big Bang All Black.Jesus. Can I...can I...(stutters)...work with you? The Ulysse Nardin Black Ocean pics in the watch porn magazines always catch my eye, and Hublot Big Bang All Black is one of my grails. Of course, I'd never get any work done, so nevermind.
February 18, 201016 yr Dusty, I am thinking about picking this one up locally to cover my black watch for my collection. It also covers my category for watch with BJ on the face.
February 18, 201016 yr Author Nice! Two birds with one stone, no less. (I don't have a 'watch with BJ on the face'...didn't really have that category until you mentioned it...that might be the only contender, though.) I do plan on getting an Invicta Lupah Revolution, because it looks like the radioactive symbol.
