skullguise Posted March 1 Report Posted March 1 ^^ This is the similar feeling to a woman I know and with whom I used to work. She would always say she is from Persia, not Iran. And that's because the government there defined what Iran is today...and she's not a part of that. I reached out to her today, she is happy and relieved that the leader is gone. Like many, she hopes it's a beginning of more freedoms for the people (and she has family there still). But like above, she still worries about the future depending on how things progress, and what "fills the void." I hope that things will progress for a better future for the people. But with people like Trump and Netanyahu influencing things, not so sure.... 2
blessingx Posted March 1 Report Posted March 1 “Iranian state TV has just confirmed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is dead.”
blessingx Posted Wednesday at 02:44 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:44 AM The US and Israeli attacks on Iran, Trump indicated, had killed many of the alternative leaders he had hoped to see in power. “Most of the people we had in mind are dead,” Trump said. “We had some in mind from that group that is dead. And now, we have another group. They may be dead also, based on reports.” He added that his options for replacing Khamenei were running low. “Pretty soon, we’re not going to know anybody.” https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/3/3/worst-case-scenario-trump-weighs-replacing-khamenei-as-leader-of-iran 4

The stupid. It hurts.
aerius Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago Fill your gas tanks, shit just got real. Oil infrastructure in the Middle East is starting to go up in flames. North America will probably be OK, but Europe & Asia are likely to have fuel shortages soon.
Craig Sawyers Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago (edited) In the UK we get hardly any fossil fuels from Iraq, <1%. The the thing that hits global oil prices, and hence fuel prices - is the cost per barrel of Brent Crude. So it hits everyone globally - including the US. Most energy supply companies hedge by buying ahead, usually at least 6 months and up to a year. So there is a lot of intertia in the price of fuel and gas. The fuel taps don't just turn off overnight. Edited 1 hour ago by Craig Sawyers
