A friend of mine, who understands this kind of stuff said "Chrome seems to be the culmination of a lot of good ideas from other browsers, plus a nifty engine to run it all." He elaborated on various bits they'd swiped from Opera, FFX, etc.

I like FFX3 enough that Chrome will have to be really good for me to switch.

On the other hand, I have enough issues with every available browser that Chrome is quite possibly the very thing I've been looking for.

More choices is never a bad thing, go Google :prettyprincess:

Woah mutli threaded browser :ian:

And more support for WebKit is a plus in my book too. This hopefully won't put any more stress on web developers as many were already taking into account other WebKit browsers like Safari/MobileSafari, Adobe Air, etc. (not to mention Googles furture Android and the earlier version of KHTML in Konqueror).

I don't really see the point of yet another browser at this time but whatever. It being multi-threaded shouldn't be a huge surprise though, pretty much all software needs to start making that transition if it wants to keep up.

Also happy to see more love for Webkit. Let's just hope Chrome for Windows is a better implementation than Safari for Windows.

One more step in Google's quest to dominate the world. But wait, I thought they "do no evil"?

Introducing a browser (based on open standards) is evil now?

I meant to be sarcastic, but it is interesting to watch how they're extending themselves, and I do feel the response would be different were they a different company.

It should be. ;)

I find it hard to imagine a way that releasing a browser would be considered evil. Hell, people were glad when microsoft introduced something to compete with netscape back in the day. It was only when they started "embracing and extending" standards that people decided that IE was evil.

Personal opinion is that it's kind of silly not to wait to do a simultaneous mac/linux release.

I tried it out. Fast browser, but I like my alt+s hotkey that seems to only work in IE7.
