A friend of mine, who understands this kind of stuff said "Chrome seems to be the culmination of a lot of good ideas from other browsers, plus a nifty engine to run it all." He elaborated on various bits they'd swiped from Opera, FFX, etc.

I like FFX3 enough that Chrome will have to be really good for me to switch.

And more support for WebKit is a plus in my book too. This hopefully won't put any more stress on web developers as many were already taking into account other WebKit browsers like Safari/MobileSafari, Adobe Air, etc. (not to mention Googles furture Android and the earlier version of KHTML in Konqueror).

I don't really see the point of yet another browser at this time but whatever. It being multi-threaded shouldn't be a huge surprise though, pretty much all software needs to start making that transition if it wants to keep up.

I find it hard to imagine a way that releasing a browser would be considered evil. Hell, people were glad when microsoft introduced something to compete with netscape back in the day. It was only when they started "embracing and extending" standards that people decided that IE was evil.
