October 17, 200817 yr I've always wanted a pair of closed headphones, and for awhile, I wanted DT770's. But everyone tells me they sound like a fart can.
October 17, 200817 yr Ralph Nader once said of the Corvair... "Unsafe at any speed." I'll paraphrase: Beyerdynamics... "A bad deal at any price."
October 17, 200817 yr IIRC, the new DT770 (2005/2006 ver.) has a lot less bass than the older 80 Ohms version.
October 17, 200817 yr IIRC, the new DT770 (2005/2006 ver.) has a lot less bass than the older 80 Ohms version. That is the newer version (see label on graph).
October 17, 200817 yr That is the newer version (see label on graph). I know. I imagine the graph for the older version would be a lot more impressive. We need a bass head smiley for headphones like these.
October 20, 200817 yr But everyone tells me they sound like a fart can. That is way to polite. Fart can with a follow through is closer.
October 20, 200817 yr Wow, the ATH-A700s are still overpriced in NA. I bought them in Japan, not onsale for around 12500 yen, 3 years ago.
October 20, 200817 yr Wow, the ATH-A700s are still overpriced in NA. I bought them in Japan, not onsale for around 12500 yen, 3 years ago. $299 is just the MSRP in NA. They can be easily found for less than $140 new from a dealer, much like HD650 with MSRP of $500, but can be found new for less than $300.
October 20, 200817 yr $120 now for the DT770. I'm very tempted to try the new ones to see how they are for FPS gaming. The old DT770-80 (straight cable) sucked for this despite what everyone said
October 21, 200817 yr Well, I bought the Fart Can. We'll see for shared work duties. 250 ohm Con version, so should be a little less gassy, no? Hope the Pico isn't a limitation.
October 21, 200817 yr awesome avatar deepak! The dude that plays George Bluth Sr was on last night's Entourage
October 22, 200817 yr V6 is $70, not bad. Some say they suck, but on the whole they don't. I do like the sound of my roommate's old 7506 over his new V6, though. The 7506, while not as "full" is a lot more clear. Not sure if it's mid/low resonance or just boosted frequency or something.
October 22, 200817 yr I only want the V6 for FPS gaming. My friend who plays CAL-I CS said they are amazing for that (he used to use SR-60).
October 22, 200817 yr Well, I bought the Fart Can. We'll see for shared work duties. 250 ohm Con version, so should be a little less gassy, no? Hope the Pico isn't a limitation. I did the exact same thing. I mean, for $110, might as well take a flier on them, right?
October 23, 200817 yr Wonder if it's unrealistic to expect at least several steps above the V6 performance?

The old DT770-80 (straight cable) sucked for this despite what everyone said Still using mine and it works well And by "works well" I mean the left driver is rattling. Which isn't uncommon in the supposedly "built like a tank" DT770. Maybe if by "built like a tank" they mean a third-world T55...
