December 4, 200817 yr Damn, I wish I had been online during those wacky escapades of yours! To make up for it, I will post a couple now.
December 5, 200817 yr So is DOTU also Number Six? Well, they are both vinyl fans Too Late! the mods (#2) have set Rover on him!
December 5, 200817 yr The joke's long over, but what started out as goofiness became an extended lesson in Photoshopping. I spent longer on that this than I care to admit, but I now have a much better understanding of masking, layers, cloning and other cute PS tricks. The composite is far from perfect, but I'm pretty pleased with the results. Also, it's always a good idea to remove Ben Stiller when possible. I had changed it to say "robot" instead of "retard" but that got lost in one of my re-edits. I used much better source material for this one, particularly the Voltron. Seriously, check out the original, it's bad-ass.
December 5, 200817 yr Nice work! Much improved and the toy image is indeed badass. And Grahame, I am the new No. 2!
December 6, 200817 yr And Grahame, I am the new No. 2! Then Who is Number 1? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMLH8vB9zZ8
February 14, 200917 yr And this is a headphone site!? You guys sure stray off topic A little late in the game I know but I AM using an original Cardas with my HD650s and love the sound with the Perreaux SXH2 amp. (It's re-sheathed in black tech-flex so it looks like an SAA Equinox!) Can't see spending more for a different sound. (Just my 2 cents.) Edited February 14, 200917 yr by Hellenback go advanced for the smileys!
February 15, 200917 yr And this is a headphone site!? You guys sure stray off topic That's because we suck.
February 16, 200917 yr Hahaha, yeah, some people here like to post off-topic. Don't pay any attention to them! I don't think this is really a headphone site. It might seem like one, but... Sheathed in black techflex doesn't resemble only SAA Equinox. Other cables are also black techflex. The APS v3 comes in a nylon version that's very nice, softer and more flexible, and maybe a bit lighter than those techflex. Hey, the cable touches me! Soft and flexible is good.
February 16, 200917 yr This is head-case... any topic is suitable for any thread...everything here is just one large run-on thread.
February 18, 200917 yr Then Who is Number 1? YouTube - The Intro of The Prisoner Obviously written by someone who has not seen that last episode.
February 19, 200917 yr I bought a HF's 650s + original Zu. Decided I don't like 650s and swapped them for 600s. I'm not sure that the cable upgrade is that huge an improvement over stock though. I got better results upgrading my interconnects TBO, and they don't have annoying and noisy-when-it-rubs sheathing on them.
February 19, 200917 yr where do people find nice soft nylon covering to fit stuff like mogami miniquad? It might be cheap, no reason it can't look expensive though.
February 19, 200917 yr Sweet! cheers Fungi The stuff looks and feels nice but it also likes to snag and collect dirt and such. Just be careful with it if you go that route... its also pretty heavy and stiffer.
February 19, 200917 yr Stiffer than techflex? Hmm, snagging and dirt collection aren't my favorite attributes for sleeving.
February 19, 200917 yr Stiffer than techflex? Hmm, snagging and dirt collection aren't my favorite attributes for sleeving. It is quite a bit thicker... once you manage to sleeve it on a cable longer then 3ft (that is fun in and of itself) you will find the diameter of the over all cable is quite a bit thicker and stiffer.
February 19, 200917 yr heh, I remember my first go at sleeving with techflex... yeah, that was fun. NOT!!
February 19, 200917 yr Haha, techflex. If you want a sampler of this nylon multifilament (just give me a length for one or two cables) just let me know. I only have it in the thinnest 1/8" type, if that works. Or you can just dew eet, since there's not much else to sleeve with.
February 19, 200917 yr It is quite a bit thicker... once you manage to sleeve it on a cable longer then 3ft (that is fun in and of itself) you will find the diameter of the over all cable is quite a bit thicker and stiffer. I thought making cables was all fun fun fun? That's why people do DIY? I forgot to mention my four headphones recabled with Enigma Audio Oracle, all balanced. The Oracle cable is very light, thin and flexible. Thinner and lighter than APS v3 or Black Dragon or Equinox, but not as soft as the APS v3 nylon. Yes, somehow I ended up with four Oracle cabled headphones, W5000, SA5000, AD2000 and RS-1. I think of the fun fun fun Grand Enigma had making these cables and I'm jealous. And now the Apex is out! Grrrr...
February 19, 200917 yr The other thing of note with NMF is that it does not expand nearly as much as techflex. That said, I'll still take it over techflex any day of the week. Gary, shoot me a PM if you need some, I have 3 or 4 sizes I think.
February 20, 200917 yr It is quite a bit thicker... once you manage to sleeve it on a cable longer then 3ft (that is fun in and of itself) you will find the diameter of the over all cable is quite a bit thicker and stiffer. heh, I remember my first go at sleeving with techflex... yeah, that was fun. NOT!! This is the same stuff you installed over the blue Canare quad cable with the Smegma SFI woodies - you said it was a PITA. But, while it makes the cable stiffer than no sleeve, it is more flexible than techflex.
February 20, 200917 yr Question is, did he slip it over the rubber of the Canare cable, or cut that stuff off first?
