Using just a compass and a straight-edge? The man knows his Stax.

I cheated. Justin came up with the idea. I did not think it was going to work, but it

did. I used the macro lens and took a picture at as close as i could get and still

have all the pins in the picture. Then i suck the thing into featurecam and tell

it the measured dimensions of just 2 of the pins. And it calculates the rest...

And damm close too. PDF's of that connector are just plain not available.

If this did not work, i could have used the new nikon microscope at work

which has guaranteed flat optics and a reticule for exact measurements.

justin's way was boatloads quicker.

African or European swallow hardwoods?

I'm open to suggestions. The harder the better.

nice, that's exactly what I did :)

I have noticed two problems. First, quality control isn't all that great on the Stax plugs, from what I can tell. So, just because it fits your SR-007 "perfectly", doesn't mean it will fit everyone's within 0.001". I checked around 10 or so plugs and found a good amount of variance, in fact I was rather surprised. The other problem (which really isn't a problem) are the people using the WPI socket. It's around 5-6% smaller, and over time bends the plug connectors so that they don't fit all that well in a properly sized connector.

I can also make them round and threaded just like the real stax thing. But the

diameter is going to have to increase a bit.

Time to learn how to cut threads on the NC lathe...

if anyone needs 2SC3381 for this, i have around 70 of them

I'm open to suggestions.

My hard wood experience is quite limited but West Australian Jarrah is very nice :)

It's pretty cheap in Western Australia too! Beautiful dark red brown colour. I had some side panels made for the CD player from this wood - they look better than the original factory supplied option.

Difficult to work with though. It just eats drill bits for breakfast! ;)

Shit yeah don't I know it... complete pita to "hand" drill.

But perhaps with Dr Gilmore's CNC mill it may be ok :)

I love it when a plan comes together :D

no errors yet, and i think i can probably sail thru the rest...

I'm doing a custom radius cutter for the outside from a single blade

carbide bit, edm'd for the surface i want. (because I CAN! :D)

hand drill??? what are you guys nuts??? i'm going to cnc the stax jacks...

Hand drilling is fun until you mess up. I spent the last afternoon trying to drill 32mm holes into the top of a Modushop chassis where all the air slots are with a stepped drill. I really need a 35mm+ punch.... :palm:

Starting to think about a completely custom machined knob...

Anyone with some ideas ??

The deep engraving is going to be sweet.

how about a stylized reference to the "zeners" used in the T2 for the engraving? Some sort of artistic interpretation of the schematic

:D

Show me what you got... Be creative...

autocad 3d drawings in dxf format please...

or solidworks, or cativa....

no lines <.025 inch please.

Very nice!

What's the dimensions on the chassis?

Remember that there are 2 chassis, another identical one for the PS.

The circuit board that goes on the inside is 12 x 16.

I think the resulting chassis had better be 15.4 wide x 16.7 deep x 2.96 high

(plus feet) (plus tubes) (plus about an extra .35 for the neutrik jacks)

Still less cubic inches than a dual maestro chassis... :D

My house mate is laughing uncontrollably after I showed him this with a tape measure... his exact words were "isn't that a bit much" :)

I could make a small surf board with that much fiber glass LOL.

Crikey! What kind of people do you hang out with?
