Arrived yesterday and it really opens up every electrostatic headphone that I own. I was looking for an amp that can bring more bass out of my HE90 than HEV90 so I drained my pocket to bid on this and

  • I have been getting back at this..working up to a limited run of these as the STAX SR-X9000 and Audeze CRBN have made that need to happen. But the chassis is extraordinarily expensive and difficult to

Am I seeing things wrong, or did they also completely pull out the wool inside the housings?

That's what it says under that picture. :palm:

Oh it sound great now.....

It's really beyond me why people do this shit sometimes.

WTF!!!

I don't care about the re-capping - there may have been other reasons for that - but removing the wool from the Sigma Pros is just wrong headed. 2 obvious reasons - firstly reduced front to back isolation around the drivers will cause an even more severe deep bass roll-off than these phones already have. Secondly, the wool provides the equivalent of room type diffractive, reflective and absorptive surfaces. Remove it at your peril, my friends.

with help from a few headcasers =) im listening to a pair of Lambda pros and a SRM-1 MK2.

all i have to say is WOW....love these for jazz and classical...fantastic soundstage and detail. I wish for alittle more mid response, but its not to bad.

i tried to NOT want it, but GAWD now that i have it, i want MORE!!!!

The Lambda Pro is known for its recessed midrange so switching to something like a SR-202 or Lambda Nova Signature would help. Even the normal bias SR-Lambda could be a better match.

I seriously doubt it is hiding in your house...

If I were you I would cruise past the ATM machine though and just check, you might find it there...

Just got the latest HFN (Jan'10 issue) and Stax is featured in the audio milestones. :) Nothing new really but seeing somebody wearing Sigmas in print is pretty much priceless... :P

Got that pic? :P

Okay - I have an SR-Lambda (normal bias) and SRM-1/MK-2 (Version C) coming in any day now and even before I get them I'm thinking of Stax upgradeitis - any suggestions as to how to tweek this combo - - and where do I go from here?

I want to get a stand and cover for my 404LE. The Stax stand doesn't look very stable. Am I right about that? The Woo ones look much better.

But if I get a Woo single stand, will the Stax cover still fit over it?

TIA

Nic

CharlieX - whoa. Very nice combo there - listen first. Big $$$ to better

Nope that is the girl truly freaked out by something he's hearing though a pair of Lambdas.

The Stax stand is very stable.

More than can be said for the average Stax fan! :P

I use both stands and he Stax cover fits just fine on the Woo.

cheers

Tom

CharlieX, I wouldn't tweak anything but maybe the source with that rig.

I also like the default Stax stand with the lambda series fine.

ThanX manaox2 - now have a Cambridge DacMagic .... and thoroughly enjoying the Stax experience..

Thanks for all the comments about the Stax stand and cover. I think I'll just go for that one.

Now I need to sort out my sources...

I forgot how good the 007 MK1 sounds, listening to The XX "XX" and GAWT DAMN
