August 16, 201015 yr So a Nugget B22 that I recently bought from penger died at a local meet yesterday - I walked up to the amp while someone else was listening (more likely trying to listen) and noticed that the amp was off, which seemed odd. The power switch did nothing and re-plugging the cord did nothing either. One day later the amp still doesn't power on so it wasn't temporary either. I verified this amp as working before the meet, and it worked when I set it up at the meet too, as I listened to some music for awhile on it. I hear absolutely no internal noises when depressing the power button and have no idea what caused this and no idea how to fix it either. (Edit: the power button still "clicks" mechanically, it's just that nothing electrical happens.) I opened the amp and nothing looks like anything blew either. So what are my options on getting this amp fixed? Among the amp builders around HC/HF I'm not sure whom to ask either. If anyone could give me some pointers, would really appreciate it.
August 16, 201015 yr No internal noises? If the power button doesn't "click" anymore maybe the switch is broken... But honestly, the DIYers should chime in.
August 16, 201015 yr Did you check the fuses? I think swt had his B22 blow up at a meet or two. Best of luck.
August 16, 201015 yr Do you have a meter? You should check first to see if AC is getting all the way to the power supply, then if DC is coming out. Also make sure that the voltages aren't below what they are supposed to be.
August 16, 201015 yr n3rdlings advice to check the fuse sound like a good place, this could be something really simple. The fact that there’s no burnt smell or visually bad components is a good start. Best of luck.
August 16, 201015 yr i wish all companies had nugget audio like customer service. good luck sir. hopefully, it is only a burnt fuse or a simple disconnected wire.
August 16, 201015 yr The B22's have an annoying habit of burning up under some circumstances so ditto on it just being a blown fuse.
August 16, 201015 yr The thing is when they do burn you're well aware of it. You'd smell it and see it upon opening the case. My guess is a simple fix like a fuse or loose connection. Without a TRS jack on my amp any longer, the burning issue is a thing of the past for me. At least one can hope, twice was quite enough. Nugget Audio service is exceptional, as was Luvdunhill Audio!
August 17, 201015 yr heads up and HE-6 Loaner Program - Page 23 - Head-Fi.org Community The HE-6 was under amped. The B22 doesn't have the power to properly drive the HE-6. On one side the headphone wasn't driven to it's full potential. On the other hand the strain that the HE-6 put on the B22 trying to be driven ultimately caused the amp damage. The T1 was merely the straw of the inevitable. Wow, that's some serious there. At least he's living up to his screen name "baka".
August 17, 201015 yr is there a minimum post count before one can hand out an , and what are the rules governing it's appropriate usage?
August 17, 201015 yr Wow, that's some serious there. At least he's living up to his screen name "baka". Does baka mean dumbass in some language?
August 17, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the info all, and Nate has given me some good info to work from so I can check the fuse. Will be doing that shortly but for now I've set up the M3 in its place so I can listen to tunes.
August 17, 201015 yr heads up and HE-6 Loaner Program - Page 23 - Head-Fi.org Community Step away from the crack pipe dude! These idjits commenting on things they don't have a clue about drives me nuts on hf anymore. If I wasn't selling a couple things I'd have no reason to even go there anymore. At least he admitted he was wrong, instead of the usual misdirection...
August 17, 201015 yr Wow, that's some serious there. At least he's living up to his screen name "baka". Personally, I prefer "aho" but it's a regional thing.
August 17, 201015 yr Kansai-ben eh? They're interchangeable imo Hope it's a quick and easy fuse swap fix, Steve.
August 17, 201015 yr Kansai-ben eh? They're interchangeable imo Yep. Though bit different than typically known Kansai-ben since I'm from the eastern region of Kansai.
August 18, 201015 yr Author Following instructions that Nate gave me, I took the fuse out and verified that it was indeed blown. That was easy, will be getting a new fuse soon.
