It's very tasty. The two cocoa Drillauds products are also exceptionally good, if anyone is looking for recommendations.

Despite the ingredients, Al's description is right on. Another one of those transforming cocktails.

I will try one of those shakes but not tonight.

Now in the Williamsburg 'hood. Same recipe but with Pappy 15. Dropping down to 107 proof tames this one quite a bit. Moar approachable.

The Coffee Cocktail

1 oz brandy

1 egg, whole

3 oz ruby port

1 tsp sugar

Pour brandy into iced shaker. Add egg. Add port and sugar. Shake. Strain. Dust with freshly grated nutmeg.

Y+B Malbec 2009 -- also pretty good. I'm going to start rating wines by how cold I need to drink them in order to enjoy them. This one is about 65 Fahrenheit. The Hogue Gewurtztraminer that I had earlier ("...in the year", not "...in the evening") was at least 72, if not higher.

Well......I did make a Manhattan a few times last week but I promise it's only to chip into my Eagle Rare as I really not a big fan of it neat. Seems like I'm not the only one who's not a big fan either - just a little too light tasting and has this scotchy taste to it that I'm not feeling.

I don't like regular Eagle Rare either, but this year's 17yo Eagle Rare in the antique collection is quite good.

my favorite ice cream ever is a butter pecan made with maker's mark. so good.

Humphry Slocombe in SF makes Secret Breakfast ice cream with bourbon and corn flakes. Awesome stuff.

Having a Van Winkle Rye right now.....the VW 20yr is still my favorite but this rye is rather excellent too :)

The Ceylon Breakfast is a tad to brisk for a daily drinker, but I like it every once in a while; the Assam is just a twee too...well, twee. So I thought blending them would make the best of both worlds, but it's like they don't blend. Ah well, still drinkable, at least.
