What are you listening to Part the Third

^^ I watched the Tiny desk the other day when it came out. Was not compelled to post. I thought it was good, I really liked her tone and style, and that was about it. I didn't really care about a 'jazz' label on it, and still really don't. It's music and it is good. Enjoy.

So.

I saw this yesterday and I really liked the song when I first heard it and how it was used in the movie.

I took the time and listened to it again, on a good rig and with headphones.

I can say that it is an audio treat, layering and depth of field. Really well done.

Yeah, it's funny what people think prog is any more, either.  Half the time, it's just songs that aren't based on loops.

I never thought of Josh doing Broadway. It is what he should have been doing. Such lovely tone. Anyway, I never really was drawn to seeing Todd before. But my interest is peaked more than before. I think that Johnny Depp movie threw me off.

I found this in a local deep dive earlier in the year and played a few times in prep for the season, but what do you know Amy Sedaris just posted a clip this morning on the gram so offering up this odd, but wonderful, concert for anyone else. Bob Green seemed like a great guy. Battle of the Bulge to Julliard to years of Christmas specials in the heart of Silicon Valley - Mountain View's public access channel.

La Petite (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Ludovico Einaudi
2023

Example:

Short album of short tracks. And I like them all. I have not seen this movie, but I have a trigger on TIDAL for Ludovico, so gave it a listen. I wish I could use some of this music to accompany my drone shots, but I would get content matches. Anyway, just lovely melodies. Not a lot of heavy lifting here.

A little more Xmas fun.

A live performance with very good interplay and well recorded. Supposedly they had never rehearsed or played together.

Totally amazing fusion of progressive jazz electronics and trad instruments. Try and spot the time signatures.

^^ I have had that on the top of my queue for a couple week now and have been listening to it on and off, but didn't get around to posting yet, great minds. I really liked it, as well as her 2019 release that I have been listening to as well.

I've been waiting for it. It's now available on most streaming services, Qobut and Spotify for sure. Enjoying it a lot so far.

Another cassette channel! Crash (1978, Polish Jazz-Rock Fusion)

Maybe if I was in my 20s, at 53, my drink and I share an exclusive relationship, thank you.

Jazz, Rock, Fusion, the album covers a lot of ground. Mostly I think of it as a jazz guitar instrumental album. At least that is why I would return to it for future listening. I liked the interview to see his techniques, which are really cool, before listening. Techniques only matter to me when I can hear them in the final product, which now I can, and I am not sure I would have before. Look forward to future growth as a writer.
