  1. Past hour
  2. Near field listening for the win.
  3. Today
  4. ^^ blocked. But I am not the biggest fan of this season. But I was happy about this win.
  5. ^^ After decades of loving them, I finally got to see them 2 years ago. Will also see them later this year too. Me: went to a nearby town's annual Multi-Cultural Festival. What a time! Great people, gifts, food, and music. Had very good Indian street food, bought a small sculpture from Zimbabwe and mini-paintings from France (now relocated here, a follower of Daniel Venjean). Saw music from people who are from Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela, India, Africa, and Haiti. Wonderful time was had, met a few very nice people and had some nice chats with the vendors and some of the musicians. Some pics. In the 5th pic where the Indian woman is dancing, the guy in the red and yellow shirt is a good friend, known him since i was in my lower to mid single-digits. He is the drummer for the African band fronted by the man next to him, seen in the next two after that. For one of the bands, there were two couples - one with a child - who did some very nice salsa dancing!
  6. There is no reason hand-made, point-to-point wiring cannot be done right.
  7. These guys now on vinyl.
  8. Shit that's bad. I'm sure all those 10% carbon comp resistors add a magical tone...
  9. Cowboy Junkies
  10. Yesterday
  11. Paul Mcartney - The Boys of Dungeon Lane I'm not going to say it's great. In fact, I never actually listened to a Paul Mcartney album before. I've just heard the popular songs on the radio, movies or wherever else they get played, but I thought he's in his 80s, the fact that he has a new album out made me curious and maybe nastalgic that arguably the most talented Beetle is still creating new stuff. With low expectations you might enjoy it.
  12. ^ I enjoyed this too. BTW, Eva Hummingbird is a fictitious character set in 1940's war torn Europe who is a violinist, composer and double agent. The actual producer, composer and violinist is, Ceskie. Vinyl
  13. Remapping the aspect ratio switch to MATE-like focal lengths is cool.
  14. I think there's just a weird fetishization of ptp wiring now, with the worse it looks the better it must be. I own an amp from this company (it was a gift) and all I can say, as a person comfortable working on amps, is that I sure hope it doesn't break (you can zoom in on the third picture for the hot (melt glue) mess.)
  15. Corn girl was all over, and a little hammered too...
  16. In my humble opinion the hand made point to point soldering of the Cary products I’ve seen isn’t very good.
  17. at least the cary has no flammable wool tuning elements.
  18. I'm slow on the uptake. Is "Cary Audio standards" a good or a bad thing? P2P always looks like a bit of a clusterfuck to untrained eyes. "That's well done" and "What a complete and utter shitshow" aren't that visually different. Unless it's McAllister (or late stage Rotenberg) tier work.
  19. ^^ ha, that is what I was going to say - reminds me of my 300sei (then it went silent).
  20. Would like to try.
  21. Wow, that looks badly hand-made at the level of Cary Audio standards.
  22. Found some more pics of the Viva STX which I'm okey borrrowing knowing how much this guy has taken from here. Seriously, this thing is so fucking bad. I think this might be the same unit as was posted before, very similar burn marks on that electrolytic cap... which is always a sign of quality. Rifa caps and all that but that switch floating on some hot glue. Yup... pure quality for only 12k$.
  23. Does it taste any better closer to it's homeland?
  24. I went on a deep dive through Jacob's photos on FB. These are some shots he took over the years that AFAIK he did not post here: The opposite focal point of this shot (where the gate is in focus and the house is OOF) would be interesting. I think the slight vignetting here is an artifact of the lens, not a software filter.
  25. Last week
  26. New Space doc dropped.
  27. RIP Gene Shalit, who passed at the tender age of 100.
  28. There is some amp porn included. Checking out the recent Vienna show. Lot more ribbon/electrostatic than I would have expected.
