So in trying something new, HeadAmp is now offering the Spirit Torino headphones from Italy. These are my 3 favorite models...I'll have to do a lot more listening to see which is definitely the favorite, but all of these shine in their own way. The Radiante is a closed back and may be the most interesting of the bunch. Anyone going to be at the DC meet next weekend? I might also look at doing a loaner program for these. Very few people have heard them yet

I was able to listen to the GMP 435 S thanks to the ongoing loan program in Head Fi. I received the cans on January 8, 2010. This is not my first experience w/ a German Maestro headphone, having previously listened to the GMP 8.300 D. I do not know how many hours of burn-in this unit has; they should have plenty of burn-in since it has gone through several HF members before reaching my hands. Since I have no way of knowing and since I will be able to keep them for two weeks I will start by burning them in for 100 hours or so. For now straight out of the box my initial impressions are: Like: - Very lightweight - Extremely comfortable, plus it easily adjusts w…

I just bought a pair of these from Beach Camera (refurb) and initially I am not too impressed with them. I find them to be bassy and a bit bloated and lacking in midrange definition. Reading the mod thread on HF, it sounds like this mod would do what I think these need, but I was wondering if anyone here had done this mod and what your impressions were with it? Or would I be better off just getting rid of these? I was looking for an inexpensive closed can for home use; I need something that doesn't leak sound to disturb others in the room. I am driving these with a Dynalo, so plenty of power.

Does anyone know Grado's policy on selling replacement/spare parts for their headphones? I've just read a couple threads about Headphile's custom headphones and was curious about how the HP and PS-1 drivers were obtained for these projects. I was always under the impression Grado did all their repairs in house and wasn't willing to send out replacement parts but if that was the case it would seem the only way to make a PS3000 would be to cannibalize a PS-1 which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Anyway I know this is kind of a random question but I'm a bit curious how this works.

Apologies for the promo-sounding thread title. The product description sounds a bit like a custom EQ to me: http://www.macworld.com/article/3090489/hardware/even-earphones-tune-into-your-ears-to-deliver-the-perfect-sound.html I get the reasoning behind the technology – ultimately, I'd rather have my ears fixed than get earphones tuned to my hearing deficiencies. If you combined this technology with a custom ear mold, you might get the ultimate IEM. They could go beyond frequency correction if they had a large enough database and good enough drivers.

Wikia Impressions: @n3rdling's HE90 Clones (out of BHSE): For those of you who might have missed the opportunity to listen to these you need to put it on your must listen to at the next meet he attends. Personally having never listened to the original Orpheus but loving my 007 MK1 out of the Headamp BHSE and hating the Stax 009's I felt at a loss. I mean the 007 MK1 is my favorite headphone I own but at times want something a little more refined that my HD800 SDR isn't doing. Well enter the HE90 clones I have heard these at one other meet I attended and it was out of the Headamp Aristaeus (oh yah the other e-stat amp Justin makes) and with the BHS…

Hello, I have a vintage pair of Realistic PRO-50 headphones which I believe are the same as the AKG K250 600 ohm. (Made for Radio Shack by AKG.) They sound fine except for a very poor bass response. If I play them through either a software or hardware equalizer with the base controls pushed up high I do get a better bass response. I am using them with a Schiit Magni 3 amplifier set on the high position. I also get the same results with other headphone amps. Is this normal for this headphone? Are there any modifications to the headphones that I can make to improve the bass response? Many thanks in advance for any help.

I'm pretty sure everyone has done this at one time. Hung onto a headphone or piece of gear that You want to like, but don't. Mine is a q701 I bought used 12 years ago real cheap. Cheap because it smelled like an ashtray. Pulled it apart and cleaned it well, and did the bass port mod. I don't like the sound. Put it away and then tried it out again when I changed DACs and amps. I still don't like it. I'm trying real hard to make myself get rid of it. It's hard to be a horder.

The local Craigslist is choke full of "NIB" Beats. Somebody must be bringing in truckloads of Chinese knock-offs. We have had a ton of those white van speakers around here, now these. There must be 20 a day listed. Worthless either way, real or not. Is this the case around the other metro areas around the country?

The alcantara pads on my workhorse HD800s are rotten and I'd love to replace them. Over the years I've always been able to buy spare parts directly from Sennheiser, but no distributor seems to carry them for shipping to the U.S. at the moment. I don't want to ruin these by putting aftermarket Beyerdynamic pads or whatever on them, I just want to pay Sennheiser an ugly markup for parts they apparently no longer want to keep in stock. Does anyone have a line on a real supplier for these?

Had my T50 rp for about 3 weeks now. Maybe 70 hrs burn in thus far. Waiting on internal mods until my replacement pads come in. In the meanwhile i DL EQU for iphone/ipad and TBH these things with my amp have done a 180. I now have soundstage, improved dynamics and decay. Anyone else experience this? or should i simply put the pipe down? Trav

Hi everyone. This is a long shot but maybe someone will be able to steer me in the right direction. I'm trying to make (or buy) a retrofit that lets me connect my David Clark (general aviation style) headset to our helicopter which accepts a military helmet. The jack on the helicopter is a 5 pole U-385/U (TJ-105 or M641/22-01) socket. It accepts a U-384/U (TP-105, M642/14-01) plug. The headset has a PJ-055B headphone plug and a PJ-068 mic plug. Pictures of those plugs can be found here: http://www.flyingshop.com/acrobat/Connectors.pdf. I haven't been able to dig up any information on what the helicopter outputs, but the David clark H10-20 specifications are readil…

Hi I somehow have lost my headphones, so here I am trying to find out which to buy.. I've been looking on the market (im from Denmark) and right now it seems like I will choose from Pioneer HDJ-1500, Sennheiser URBANITE on-ear and Sony MDR-1A. Those three headohones seems to be quite good and around same prices tags: Little over $200 in Denmark! What I am going to use the headphones to is primary on the bus, when I travel to/from school, to visit family/friends etc. I might use them at home also, but primary use is on the bus. I am therefore looking for some closed headphones that keeps out the sound and on the same time, I want to play high music without irri…
