Grok Headphones in Fullness

  1. After hearing a lot of buzz, especially on head-fi.org, I've got these from a spam site and they're finally here. I did a lot of testing, including a comparison with the m50, as the title suggests. There's the box. Big and pretty, but dinged up by the nosy and careless customs employees. The headphones come packed with a layer of cloth, which I found a nice touch. The build quality is great. You definitely don't expect something like this for 50 dollars. Sturdy, heavy plastic, no creaking. Pretty comfortable, if a tiny bit too small for my head. Then again, I'm not a good judge for this as I find all headphones a bit uncomfortable. If I can put it on and not feel …

Has anyone tried the Grado replacement pads from ebay? The ones that ship from China with the hole in the center.

  3. Hi I somehow have lost my headphones, so here I am trying to find out which to buy.. I've been looking on the market (im from Denmark) and right now it seems like I will choose from Pioneer HDJ-1500, Sennheiser URBANITE on-ear and Sony MDR-1A. Those three headohones seems to be quite good and around same prices tags: Little over $200 in Denmark! What I am going to use the headphones to is primary on the bus, when I travel to/from school, to visit family/friends etc. I might use them at home also, but primary use is on the bus. I am therefore looking for some closed headphones that keeps out the sound and on the same time, I want to play high music without irri…

I need to change the headband pad on my HE90 but I've never actually done it before. Can anyone here talk me through it so it makes sense and I don't break something? I think the cups have to come off but I'm not positive. Any help would be appreciated, Gary.

Hi so i am making my own headphones, and i recently bought a 2.1 stereo surround sound amplifier. It has outputs for left, right and sub. My dilemma is this: should i try to do bridged mono to connect the sub output to the right output, and then seperately with the left outputs(and if so how) or should i split the sub and put two speakers in each side(and if so what is a good source for drivers. Thanks!

  6. Good day to all! New Member here. I'm not really an Audiophile and i don't really have ultra sensitive ears but i can make enough distinction between the earphones that came with my mobile devices and something with a higher quality. I would love to get an Audio Technica ATH - M50X but they're out of my budget range. At the moment i am enjoying my ATH-S300 and ATH-WS33X both under 70 USD (3,000 PHP). though the cheaper of the two i find myself liking the ATH-S300 more. At the moment im looking for an under $50 in ear headphones for the daily grind after i gave away my sound magic PL11 and Audio Technica CLR-100 to my cousins. Both good earphones for their price but im…

$3400 for "mint" HE90 Orpheus but money order/certified check only. Do we know anyone like this from London? https://app.audiogon.com/listings/in-ear-sennheiser-orpheus-he90-headphones-2014-11-06-headphones-n15-5lh

Hello, sorry my english. I have a "koss PortaPro's" and really like the sound quality of this phone. But now I want to buy a headset "In-ear". So I ask: Is there any headset "Earbuds & In-Ear" with quality "equal or better" to the Koss Porta Pro? Purchased a "Philips SHE9000" but I was extremely disappointed. The quality of this phone is terrible. Researched some models of phone, and called me some attention. They are: Shure SE530s Koss KDX300 In-Ear Sennheiser MM 70s Sennheiser CX 300 II I am not an expert on ear phones, so I would know through you. Any of the above models have the quality "equal or better" to the door of the pro koss? Do you suggest some…

Does anyone know the wiring setup ? I've looked online and everyone says different things. I have a Black, White, Green, Yellow and red coming from the headphones and then the line im trying to splice to is Red, White, Black and a wire with no insulation which i assume is the ground. Like i said i had them working perfectly before. Any help would be appreciated great…

So Oppo are following up the release of their PM1 & PM2 planar's with the 2015 release of the PM3 which is a closed back portable planar with high sensitivity that Oppo claim will run directly from your DAP. I'm not totally sure, but this maybe the first portable planar ever or if not maybe for a long time. TYLL Hertsens has a video interview with a guy from Oppo on his innerfidelity site that you may like to check, but looks like planar manufacturers are really looking to push the envelope with this type of driver technology.

  13. Hey everybody! I'm a noob when it comes to selecting a headphone, and I'm looking for a "wireless noise cancelling headphones with microphone". Could anybody recommend a model to me that is wireless, noise cancelling, over the ear with microphone headset that can work with PC and mobile? The lower the price the better, and I don't care about brand. Thank you!

  14. Headphone in–the-head localization effect cause: sound doesn’t have the couple/affect with the ear and the human upper torso then direct enter the ear channel, the factors for human brain to locate sound source are missing. Solution: supplement the missing factors. I used DSP to handle a music section: the first 10 seconds are intact, then 10 seconds have processed… repeat and cycle for easier comparison. This music section is just for in ear headphone type like AKG3003. Please feel free to comment, I will be very appreciate! You can download this music track from Baidu Cloud storage, link: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1kTp6TDl access code:3x7g

  15. Dear Headphone audiophiles, I want to buy the best headphones for listening to metal music. I recently purchased sE electronics The EGG speakers with amplifier and have concluded that they have way too much bass. I was disappointed when I placed a AKG K240 headphone in my Focusrite Forte usb soundcard and heard tons of details in my favorite records that I had not previously heard. I love hearing all the tiny details the artists intended us to hear. From what I have researched, any speakers/headphones that are fantastic for classical music will likely be great for metal as well (clear highs, good mids, little bass). Basically, I need headphones that make me hear everyth…

  16. I'm relatively new here, but have been doing a lot of research over the past several days or so on the listening experience for my PC. I'm planning on buying the Sound Blaster Z card and am looking for a great pair of cans to round out my experience. My budget is $200 and under, and I will primarily use them for gaming, but I'd also like to listen to music as well from time to time. I do some FPS gaming but it's mostly Star Wars: Old Republic- or Neverwinter-type games. Soundstage, imaging and bass are particularly important to me. Imaging for obvious reasons, gotta know where shots are coming from, soundstage I think goes along with this, and bass because I love good exp…

  17. Started by Sherwood,

Hey headphone friends. Despite my great affection for good headphones, the pair that spends the most time on my head are a cheap logitech headset with 2 miniplugs -- one for the mic, one for the headphones. I interview visa applicants for five hours a day, and I wear those shitty headphones to do it. I think it's time for a change. Ideally, I'd like a new set that meets three criteria, in order: 1) Some kind of gate or filter to block excessively loud noises. Applicants often hit the microphone on their side with papers, and it's like 120dB or white noise. Sennheiser has ActiveGard on some business headsets, and this seems to do the job. 2) Professiona…

  18. This video gives people a good look at the factory and their manufacturing process: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/07/some-of-the-worlds-most-reknowned-headphones-built-in-a-brooklyn-townhouse/ SFW: hot glue action It should be interesting to see if their e series headphones are a measurable improvement on their predecessors. It seems like yesterday that they announced the i series.

  19. These will be used almost exclusively for gaming. I am much more concerned with comfort than I am with quality. If I had to rank them myself from the research I've done.... Comfort: 1) MA900 2) Ultrasone 3) DT990 4) Fidelio X1 Quality: 1) Fidelio X1 2) DT990 3) Ultrasone 4) MA900 Price: $230 Fiedlio X1 $215 MA900 $150 DT990 $90 Ultrasone I need a very light clamp. Don't really care much about bass, more about mids. As I read that's what is important for gaming. My budget is about $150 otherwise I would have probably bought the MA900's already. Any suggestions are appreciated!

New to this forum so I am prob making a huge mistake in starting a thread already. If I did then please forgive me. I cant find a place to talk about these so I figured I would post here. Some bass head cans with two plugs out with great balance and good soundstage. Interested in hearing peoples thoughts about them if they have heard of them or are curious.

  21. This is probably not the appropriate topic as it's not a picture of my rig, but I didn't want to create a separate thread for this... and it's a picture of a headphone after all. What is you guys' opinion on this, aesthetics alone? I'm a (soon to be) designer and this is my graduation project – the first prototype is going to be built soon. It's more of a mass market product rather than an audiophile oriented thing though, so take that as you will.

  22. Started by wink,

http://www.sonicsense.com/blog I tried some different comparisons on this site. The AKG K702 vs Sennheiser HD650 was definitely revealing. They use a you-tube like linkand they play excerpts of the reference track and the headphone reproduction as recorded from their dummy head alternately. The 3 I listened to were The AKG K702 vs Sennheiser HD650, The Ultrasone ED8 vs Fostex TH900, and The AKG K812 vs Beyerdynamic T1 vs Ultrasone ED10 vs Sennheiser HD800. As I was using one of my HD600's that was connected to my computer, I found that in the first one the HD650 part sounded quite noticeably laid back compared to the reference portion of the compar…

  24. I go through a pair of cheap Sony earbuds (DR-EX12IP) every 1-3 months. I didn't want to get something nicer for fear of them breaking after a month as well, but I'd like to give it a shot. I'm looking at Shure SE-215s. My main priority is durability. I am probably not likely to put them in a case when not using them. I know it's bad. But I use headphones at least 5 hours throughout the day (sometimes more), so it's easier for me to just keep them coiled in my pocket. The next priority is comfort. My ears are pretty small, so that could be an issue. And I don't know that Shure IEMs are really meant for the general public. Is there a more comfortable option out there? …
