Headphone Amplification

I have a CCS modded Stax SR-006t from Mjolnir Audio that stopped working back in September. For a few weeks I would get no sound until I turned it off and on, but now I get nothing. I've tried multiple sources and cables but no dice. I tested the DC offset between + and - of both channels and between the bias and both channels' - line. After that I tested the AC voltage playing a 1khz signal and followed it from the inputs to the vol control and got nothing. Spritzer repaired it back in April of 2023. The HV- line wasn't working due to a failed resistor and a capacitor was starting to fail. At the time the left channel was much quieter and had a buzzing noise before …

I have a 100V SRM 323A that I am trying to rewire for 120V. I haven't been able to find a diagram for the transformer, so I was hoping that someone could help me figure out how to rewire it. Right now the yellow, white, and grey wires are connected to one side of the plug and the brown and green wires are connected to the other. The blue and orange wires have been cut off, but I should be able to reconnect them with some careful soldering.

Recently i acquired a SRM1/MK2 (B series) Stax amp and a pair of sr404 which is bought for a sigma/404 conversion It comes with an imbalance issue. I first thought it is the headphone , but after several switches of equipment(amps,headphones etc） im certain that its the AMP. By observation there is no burnt resistors,measured some of them ,the VR seems to be functional........I tuned the offset and balance But the + to - voltage of the lower-volume channel doesn't change when i rotate the balance pot which is abnormal, it stays on 8v dc While all other balance and offset pots is fine. Have anyone once had the same issue ？Any thoughts?I need help…

Hi! I am renewing 25-years 717's and I observe strange things: I noticed a lot of wet places - as if sweaty - I suspect it has something to do with high voltage, have you noticed such symptoms in your old Stax? It's probably old flux - but these are places where it shouldn't be - output sockets, bottom of heat sinks (between PCBs). The second issue - how does the output protection system work - it draws voltages only from two outputs +L and +P? Because that's what I saw on PCB. What are the soldering points marked 81,82, 83 and Test: R,L,V for? I know that Kevi n had a diagram of this system somewhere, but it is no longer available .

Untill now I read only severe negative posts for SRM-727II. But I still can't find anywhere concrete opinion what's the problem with this Stax amp. I see most people own SRM-007tII, SRM-006t and even SRM-717 but not the 727 How many of you had the opportunity to compare 727II with another amps?

I've posted my complaints in the other head-forum but no adequate responses or even any guidelines have been written. For the last month I hear a conciderable increase of the highs of my O2mk2. Somehow the highs "opened" and become more shrill and noticeable, some squeaky and ticking sounds protrude above the whole sound "picture". I mean sounds like the sound of a harpsichord or the movement of the fingers over the quitar's neck, or some "parasite" sounds which are found in all acoustic records. Since i finally registered, i thought i might as well enquire, can't hurt; Very recently finished building my SRX Plus, tip top on all mats minus the pot which is a TKD CP2500, gets a bit too steep from there What that sounds like, most of you already know, so will skip this part. I have a Stacker II due around the end of January. This is a hybrid tube amp that goes well beyond the already excellent Millet and SOHA/ SOHA 2 hybrid amps. The Stacker has a true high voltage tube gain stage attached to a discrete transistor output stage .... and in my case a tube rectified power supply. I cant get enough of the SOHA/ JISBOS hybrid or maxxed Millet Starving Student with my woodied Alessandros .... the sound is delightful. Here are some pics ....

Hello, EDIT: the original "solution" proved to be a coincidence. So, I was writing a big long post (saved below) and may have solved my own problem whilst doing so. I'm still posting just because, while the solution was one of those "d'oh" things, it might help someone else in the future. TL;DR, I think my cheapo Amazon Basics power cable isn't grounded/shielded properly and was creating a static sound in the left channel. I have a stand alone Koss E90 box and a Stax SRD-7 transformer box. I am just curious which one every one prefers and why? iFi has their eESL trans former box, which is as about as universal as one can get, and there is of course used Stax transformer boxes. There is also a plethora of electrostatic amps, stax, Woo, Mjolner and so on. Just curious as to what every one likes for their Stax or other electrostatic headphones.

When using Normal Bias Stax SR-Lambdas, or any normal bias stax can; can the sb energizer, paired with a great amp, deliver sound on par with a stand alone stax amp? Or will it always be lacking? example: Pair a fully restored Fisher 400 tube amp -> srd-7sb -> sr-lambda (normal bias) What level of sound can you expect from this? would the performance be on par with anything modern or classic? and is the srd-7sb the weak link here? is the standard srd-7 preferred? so what do we have here stax 717 in a huge metal case now the weight has increased from 5 kg to 11 kg it seems like the case is made well, all the places for fastenings are made accurately the main thing is that it works

So I got one of them non-pro Stax adapters off of eBay, but I have pro headphones (with the higher charging voltage, or whatever it's called). Anyone know of a way to change the voltage, besides selling it off and buying the right one? I'm thinking it's just a transformer tap, but I'm also thinking that the tranny that's already in there probably won't deal, so I'm thinking I'm going to have to get a new transformer...which is alright, as I suspect I'm going to want to (a) ground the thing (it currently only has a two-prong power cord); and ( replace the speaker wires with something better. Apologies for the cold post here, but after a trade and drunken bidding on Yahoo Auctions I find myself with both an SRM-T1S and a 006t (both have pro and normal bias outputs). I need an amp that doesn't have an IEC connector at the back, only a DC input. Does this exist? If not, this should be easy to drill a hole and hardwire?

Hello to all forum users! My name is Martin and this is my first ever post, so please bear with me if I would make any kind of mistake. I would really appreciate if I could get some help please. I need to convert 100v Japanese amp to be working with UK power supply. I believe it could be re-wired; i am just not sure what wires and what pins on PCB needs to be changed. Also, I am looking to install XLR balanced inputs, is there any simple schematic how to do it?
