I've been thinking about opening the earcups of the MS1i and dampening the back of the drivers like Grado does with it's higher end cans presumably to eliminate any resonance that might occur in the metal back that houses the magnet. The only thing is that I'm not to sure what material I should use. Does anybody here have any experience with doing anything like this? If not I'll probably just use a little bit of silicon gel.

I'm sorry if this isn't exactly the forum for this, but I think my amp is probably REALLY similar to a headphone amp, and I trust Hi-Fi heads more than musicians... I have a 35 year old Alembic F2-B stereo pre-amp for instruments. I play my bass guitar through it, and nothing else sounds as good to me to this day. It is based on the input section of a Fender Showman Guitar Amp. The last few years I've noticed the sound seems to have progressively dulled and lost it's life. Hallo Thar, I was just wondering whether you guys think it would be worth it to build a Sigma 11 PSU for my M3 (currently I have teh steps). I know that the Sig11 can supply more current and has tighter regulation, but would it make an audible difference?

I'm still on my quest to build a large an powerful electromagnet. I'm wondering if I can put a non oscillating signal in one of the RCA jacks if my old crappy, "don't care if i blow it" amp will amplify the signal. Also how can I put in a non oscillating signal? Would a 1.5 volt battery work?

Hi everyone, I really admire Dr. Gilmore's work, and ready to build the Krell Klone. I'm preparing for nearly a month. But my son (who is studying Shakespeare in the college), after Googling, told me, we can't just "see" the PCB and make a clone of it. (Cos the PCB has many layers, ususlly 2-4, diffrent layers has totally circuit, those copper layers are very well designed. And then he doubts Mr. Gilmore's Klone PCB image-files was drawn up on the computer after "eyeseeing".) In order to make a clone, we must destroy the PCB completely. OK, so I did something stupid and accidentally shorted the secondaries of an Avel Lindberg Y23 transformer for two seconds. The voltage seems fine after I corrected the error. Do you think it survived, and or what's the harm in using it?

Hey everyone, To make a long story short, some damage occurred to a b22 that I sold internationally during shipping. I know absolutely nothing about fixing it up, but from the pics he sent me I'm guessing it should be a relatively easy fix. Is there anyone with experience with b22s(it's a 2channel board) in the area of quincy MA (or anyone in general) who would be able to help him fix it (either in person or by talking him through it?). I would be grateful for the help, as the situation is starting to turn sour. Thanks for reading.

Does anyone have schematics for either the Gold (balanced?) or the unbalanced version of these? I told a person I dealt with (diyaudio user) that I thought they might be available (and told him why bother), but his interest is just in the front end section as a preamp). I saw what is available on the eservice info site, but can't remember my login there. The user says he has some incomplete schematics with pencil markings on them. I was going thru my stash to see if I had enough to build a Dynamight and found that I'm short a pair of each of these. I then found that they aren't available anymore Does anyone have (2) of each they would sell, or barring that, anyone know what the singles of these are (if there is such an animal)? They used to do it for classrooms, and I have a similar program for 16 listeners. I'm on a small budget and can't afford a headphone amplifier. I want to use an old stereo amplifier of about 5-10 or 20 watts (which is really two amps in one box) on a TV output source. I realize this isn't audio related, but I'm in the process of rewiring a bunch of antique lamps. I could use a 50' or 100' spool of lamp 18ga 2-conductor lamp cord. The local hardware store charges 40-80 cents a foot. Any suggestions where I should look online for lamp cord and other parts?

I managed to pick up a pair of vintage RS-1 (wooden box, brown leather headband, no serial number). However there's no sound out coming out of the right driver. I'm able to unscrew the 1/4 plug and the wires seem okay. Looking into the grill, again the wires seem fine. I'll check the wires against ground with a multimeter when I get home. However, in case worse comes to worse, is there a knack to getting access to the drivers? Hi everyone! I had a quick question regarding buying a wall plug power supply. I lost the power supply of a small amplifier that I have. The back of the amplifier says that the power requirements are 12 volts DC and 4 watts. I tried looking around on Mouser but couldn't find a power supply with those exact ratings (basically 12 volts dc, 0.33 amps, 5 watts I believe). I did however find a power supply rated at 12 volts DC and 5 watts. Is the watt rating the maximum or should I not play around and instead try to find a power supply with the exact ratings that are required? Do you guys have any suggestions as to what other sites I should look on for wall plug or desktop …

9 years ago i started tinkering with the idea of a board to upgrade both of my SRD-7 to SRD-7 MkII, and then eventually a lot of stuff in my life went sideways and the project got shelved with a lot of other stuff. It did not work! it kind of worked. I screwed up something in the way the voltage multiplier was hooked up to the extent that there was only 26vac across the zener. I re-drew it yesterday. How would you make your own resistor of any arbitrary value? What natural material works well? I've made my own inductors out of tin foil, then capacitors out of mineral oil, and would like to move on to resistors. Any advice would be grateful.
