Me and a couple of friends spent today attempting to record some trip-hop. It didn't really end up sounding anything like trip-hop, and we're probably going to rerecord most of the parts because they're a little sloppy, but I think it actually turned out pretty well. I'm curious as to what you guys think. http://www.mediafire.com/?dudsxc1151v I just did the intro part, but I'll probably do some bass on it eventually.

The whole Hoffman/Gray Blue Note remasters and all of that stuff is great, but 45 bucks for one album is just too much to spend on an album unless I'm absolutely sure it has unsurpassed sound quality. What are the definite must haves in both music in sound quality? There are just too many times where I've read about some expensive new LP version of something that doesn't actually give any improvement, or is worse than the original.

Dear Head-Case, I have decided to begin exponentially increasing the size of my classical music collection. I have recently gained access to a collection of more than 25,000 classical CDs, tapes, and LPs. About 13,037 classical CDs as of this summer. I can take 3 recordings per day. Classical music has always been my first love when it came to music. One of my personal difficulties with acquiring classical CDs is that there are so many performances of every piece. Each performance is special and different; it is sometimes a huge headache to decide on which one to get. I would like to ask a huge favor of the Head-Case classical community. It is time for Head-Case cl…

I think anyone that likes kraut rock should give this a listen. Like Amon Duul or Can on steroids (or more drugs). This is one of my favorite albums in the last few years. ...just looking at the album art you know this is going to be some crazy drugged out Germans making crazy drugged out music. Originally released in 1972, came back in print with Garden of Delights in Germany. Also available on vinyl (kinda pricey). The entire album is 10 tracks of progressive kraut, a pretty good rollercoaster of music. There's the non-stop guitar shredding, shrieking male vocals, female chanting, slow droning synthesizers pretty much everything you'd think of that…

I need help identifying a song in Cheech & Chongs next movie. When Chong and Red (Cheech) leave the record store and jump in the Jag driven by Gloria (Riki Marin) it pulls into the driveway of a nice mansion. What is the song that is playing in the car when it pulls in?

So, anyone else getting excited about this? Admittedly I'm a fanboy to the nth degree. But Fox Confessor... remains one of my all-time favorite albums, her back catalog is incredibly strong, and that voice? There just aren't the words. More and more is starting to come out... The past couple years just before the CanJam I've placed an order for ~10 CDs at Acoustic Sounds to have some more high quality stuff to show off the gear. And it never fails that Norah Jones is still the only CD anyone wants to put in. So, I'm looking for some suggestions this time. Really well recorded stuff in a variety of genres, must be good music and not just impressive sound, and SACD is a major plus

You just got a new piece of gear (or entire system) and need to select one of your reference songs to see how you new gear fares; get your first impression. What do you play, and furthermore, why? Alternately, you attend a meet and sit at someone elses table. Same question.

I've gotten hooked on Al Kooper's monthly article from the Morton Report. Kooper (Bob Dylan, Super Session, Blood Sweat and Tears etc) has always been a highly opinionated artist/producer and no matter how you feel about his personality, just playing on Electric Lady Land buys him a good bit of respect in my book. So, check it out. How I relate personally to the music list goes up and down a little from month to month, but I can't say that there's ever been one that didn't put a little fire in my heart. http://www.themortonreport.com/entertainment/music/new-music-for-old-people-braid-the-fray-ruthie-foster-owen-pallett-and-more/
