Took my daughter out for her first ice skating. She had a good time, but now my back hurts from holding her up most of the time - didn't help that I hadn't skated in over a decade. Apparently, ice skating is not like riding a bike, at least not for me.7 points

Sat in on my first gig on Saturday night. While I only played keyboard on one song and guitar on two it was a lot of fun. Actually used my JH-13s on stage, mostly to block out everyone else as I get too easily distracted when playing/counting.4 points

The first post appears to have been modified for clarity. I appreciate their honesty and brevity.2 points

When photography gets so technical as to intimidate people, the element of simple enjoyment is bound to suffer. Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it; and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything. -- Hunter S. Thompson That, right there, is advice to live by.2 points

A buyer's market is a macro level phenomenon, buying a particular house is a micro level one. Sometimes there is surprisingly little relationship between them. A seller who has not maintained a furnace has likely neglected other things, too. I'd be sure the inspection is thorough.2 points

I prefer A too. Balanced input (opposite polarity signals) are referenced to each other, and ground is not referenced.1 point

Looks like my D750 is on the recall list so I took it out today to see if I could replicate the problem. Couldn't make it happen so I guess I will have to look into it some more to see how people are making it happen. Loving the AF on this camera. 100% Crop And loving the Sigma Art. Really hoping an 85 version comes soon.1 point

This is DIY. The other stuff is just kit building I tell people if you aren't constantly using ohms law when doing a DIY project, it's not DIY. Ok, I don't tell people that, but just told you guys here and now1 point

Moar cake. Three days in and I'm beginning to think we're not going to make it.1 point

This has been an interesting exchange. I checked my Beresford Caiman MkII and it puts out 2.0Vrms so I think I'll be in a better place with my KGST. HS1 point

I take it you actually used the sliders in LR, not just check the remova CA box? I think you should just stop with 85G at this point. Actually, can you start trying out the new 20 1.8G to weed out bad copies for rest of us?1 point

It sounds like the location and price are good, so I'd be willing to put up with a little more, especially with the Realtor kicking in. As Doug said, while it may be a buyer's market on a macro scale, each house will sell for what the market will bear. And this sounds like a good situation long-term. I'd say fight for what you can, but don't sweat it overall. And as you say, get some other satisfaction that the sellers could have gotten more and aren't.....1 point

Given that detail I'd make the as is deal or walk, depending on if I wanted it. Good luck!1 point

You're like the CJ of people, you hate everyone I like. I'm trying to figure a way to get a D750 some time in the next year.1 point

Thanks all. Luckily we did have a very thorough inspection done and the inspector found a bunch of stuff (most of it small) totaling out to $10k in his estimate. Though that doesn't include replacement of the heat pump/ac system for the addition which is functioning but a cheap brand and expected to fail soon. We figured that the seller would at least be willing to help with the furnace because the unit is so old and rusted out that the inspector said we needed to put carbon monoxide sensors everywhere. We were wrong. We were prepared to walk but our Realtor decided to take a cut of his fees to help offset the furnace. We will probably replace the heat pump system now too and are budgeting more for that. We are pretty sure that they just want us to walk. We ratified our offer minutes before another offer was going to come in and the other buyers are offering more and are willing to do "as is" so we are going to have to suck it up or walk. We are still getting the house for $65k less than originally listed for and I get significant pleasure knowing that at least we are preventing them from getting more money. Of course the source of all this information is the listing agent and she doesn't seem to be a very upstanding person (our agent is very unimpressed). We ran a bunch of comps and just by square footage and bedrooms we are getting a deal. I guess different less pleasurable version of a good deal is one where both sides are suitably pissed off.1 point

Having gone through similar last year, my sympathies. Keep an eye on the numbers, not the ahole.1 point

I've had the HD-800's for about a week now, what I appreciate the most so far is how little of their own sound signature there really is. They have this wonderful ability to change almost completely depending on the music I'm listening to, only one other phone is better at that, the SR-009's. It's nice to able to just listen to music without thinking about or noticing the sound signature that the phones are applying to everything I listen to. The HD-800's are supremely comfy phones, their light weight really matters for long listening sessions. Build quality is top notch, hardly anyone in the headphone industry (except maybe Oppo) is even close to this type of build quality. I don't know if other companies don't give a shit (well Grado clearly doesn't) or aren't capable of this level of build quality.1 point
