  1. Finished!! Running at 375 volts, (I like to be different) and 10ma. 1K3 cathode resistors with the 1k0 trimmers. 42° C at the heat sinks (psu around 32° C) with the top barely getting warm, so no heat issues. PSU is actually putting out -377.37V and +376.16V when warmed up. There's less offset without the servo, around 200mv, so jumpers are out. I've designed the chassis base to enable access to the boards from below. Also the brass valve platforms are removable, so balance and offset trimmers can be accessed without removing the full top cover. Signal wiring is 4n silver foil, everything else 600V PTFE. Power lines twisted and heater wires run along the top of the chassis, so no hum. All grounds to star earth located near to the filtered mains in. The volume control is an LDR kit (4 boards in the rear right hand corner) which I thought I'd try. I know the potential issues with these but it doesn't seem to be having any negative effects. I fancy playing around a bit more with LDR's to see if there's any mileage in them, but if I get bored with them I've got room for a conventional attenuator, so I'll see how it goes. I know I said it was finished, well, almost. Just need to re-etch my relay/delay and 12V supply board for the LDR's which will slot in where the terminal blocks and small board sit next to the main psu board. Slight printing error, that I hadn't spotted, meant it had shrunk the image horizontally. Dooh!! TBH, it's not really needed, but it gives me something to do. It's been 12 months from the design stage but well worth the effort. Oh, and did I mention that it sounds bloody fantastic? I guess that now I'll need to upgrade my SR-303's. Thank you, Kevin Gilmore, Spritzer and anyone else responsible for the design of this amp. Now, did someone mention a T2?

  5. the opamp blows up at +/-40V would have to check the other parts, but +/-30V should absolutely work speaking of power... unbalanced/balanced/cast to balanced input block for all sorts of things, but mainly the uberamp, just need to find a way to get it into the box will probably involve splitting off the driver section. Uses GR power supply +/-30V for the front end and another GR power supply +/-40V to run the regulated output voltages to the output amp. If i add zeners to the servo amp, can easily go to +/-50V and as shown, its 100 watts of pure class A, and something north of 225 watts A/B front end NO feedback of any kind, .0025% thd at 20khz, 2nd harmonic. 3rd harmonic not measurable. output amps are current feedback. i think i have created a monster

  6. This inspired me to go out and pick up the British equivalent of the Bernzomatic TS8000, the marginally-more-Jewish-and-altogether-more-awesome sounding Rothenberger Superfire 2 Turbo.

  7. Thanks Blueman2! No reason really, just figured this would give best access to the boards without taking all the case apart. Also, I didn't like the idea of all those electrons upside down! Good luck with your build. Cheers. Hmmm. I could send you some photos of it completely naked if you want?

  8. Well based upon the beyond comprehension mess caused by 1 inch of snow last night, I am predicting DC explodes when 3 feet of snow drops on us Friday-Saturday.

  15. I'm at work in a sweatshirt, jeans, and boots, am in management, and my mom was always impeccably dressed as an advertising executive. Also, I went to boarding school where I had to wear a coat and tie every day. It would have to be my dream job, or a 50% raise, to get me to wear a tie and polished shoes more than 3-4x a year.

  16. You think about outfits more than I do, Jacob! I chose to go into the office today in exchange for a floating holiday, and had a nice, quiet, and reasonably productive day. Then started re-arranging my apartment with the end goal of using my living room more and having an actual guest bedroom (shared with the diy rig, but something has to give). The computer is moved, which was the priority. Curtains, which were acquired over the weekend, get hung tomorrow when Mr. Planning goes to the hardware store before starting work.

  17. Amazon delivered a 6 pound jug of crisco last week, so I used a bunch to demonstrate my wisdom in buying it. Fried chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, pork gravy (using ham dripping ice cubes saved from Christmas) and Thai chili Brussels sprouts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
