  1. Along a similar vein, it's been awhile since I thought of Klosterman, but after this WTF podcast just started...

  2. Two 24v secondaries will work just fine for the desired 20VDC regulated output. You can go down to 20v since the GR's drop out voltage is quite low. That information is in the thread somewhere. To power the balanced Dynalo you'll need plenty of current so I would recommend at least 1.2A for each secondary and make sure you have enough heatsinks for the pass transistors.

  7. I've been shopping custom 24s, and think I found 'the one'. It's a 1 piece top. I wish prs would have an identical line with plain dot inlays though. i like regular old dots best.

  8. Check this HF thread out. IMO this Torq guy is doing an exceptional job with his comparative reviews. http://www.head-fi.org/t/804153/life-after-yggdrasil

  9. Most interesting! News people are taught to fear shotguns indoors because first reflections from the source can hit the side vents and make the things comb filter in an ugly way. And Steve is also right that news people who don't work for NPR don't get to touch $1,600 microphones very often )

  10. Yeah, and I might do that with my purple Legacy, but if I can just order it that way and get the MFDs at the same time, I'd prefer to do it that way. Besides, it looks super comfy. I accidentally ate some cartilage yesterday.

  11. when ever we get to that point, yes you can use Paypal. As for your order, putting it in the sheet is adequate. For now we are probing interest, the drill is like: Probe interest, people state their orders in the sheet getting quotes people confirm their order by paying using Paypal the order is placed When I and @mwl168 get the boards we ship to the participants and add shipping cost (mwl168 ships US/Canada, I do outside gods own country to keep shipping low) after some weeks boards are in various hands Fair point and hereby changed. The golden Reference Low Voltage will be the split board version (the number in that column will comprise a set (left + right).

  15. Correct. IIRC Kevin made the SMD-layout when On-semi announced that they were discontinuing the MPSW-devices and only keep the surface-mount PZTAs. As it's the same transistors I don't believe there are any difference in performance. //UFN

  20. So I just got a recent ESP950 and I naturally could not resist taking a peek inside. Looks like they have finally updated the design of the amp a bit. New pot, new PSU board but the amplifier board is still dated 1990... There are also some clear signs of penny pinching going on. No name caps, non branded 3296 trimpots and that shitty as all hell volume pot. Bias is 600V off the main B+ line and through a 10M resistor. Next to is an "infinite" resistor which can clearly be replaced to trim the bias if they start to squeal. Not happy about the cap on the bias output but this is 1990 tech. The PSU is labeled 1317 so 2013 vintage so they are clearly still building them. It's quite funny that they didn't go to SMD for this as this is clearly a new layout. Gotta love Koss, hell they've made the same headphones for almost 50 years so why modernize. I left the amp alone except that dual section pot had to go. It can't track in stereo The headphones still look the same and were quickly modified to a SR-Gamma Pro cable. There is so much potential in those drivers but lost in the shitty as all hell housing. The earpads off ebay do help quite a bit but they should be angled to improve the soundstage.
