  1. Got the first of the 3 minis finished more or less (less case, etc.). Had it running on AC for about 5 mins or so. 255R bias resistors, +/-20V PSU... I'm only seeing around 170mV across the 20R resistors. Low, and seems strange with others getting 18mA with 220R, etc. As for adjustment (offset), I used the pots by the LEDs to get the offset between +/- for that channel centered around ground, then had dialed the individual offsets in using the other 2 pots. Anyone have a different adjustment method? I may play with the pot by the LEDs and see if that does anything to the bias current or not.

  2. From today's Times. Back when hacks were hacks!

  3. I was going to suggest the Gilmore CFP2. If going balanced I would front it with a ubal-bal board for flexibility in input choices. Cheap, easy to build, and very good compared to the other suggestions. Use the golden reference PSU and you’ll be, well, golden. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. Isn't natural light more of a theory for you in January!

  5. The top plate is fine but the bottom panel is raised a bit to fit the transformer inside. Nobody could make the necessary transformer smaller than 40mm in height so this one had to be squeezed in at 42mm so the bottom is raised up a bit. It was annoying but yeah, nothing I could so short of mounting the transformer on the outside which could cost far more in the end. This amp will drive any Stax sets out there but it was never designed for the 007's in mind. Think of it as an upgraded 353X but in a much crazier chassis. On a side note, the natural light up here just sucks for taking photo's... I was actually just trying to install more lights in that room to make it easier.

  6. Why not just go for the circlotron, and end the misery......

  7. Like this totally works. Cost an arm and a leg in dongles, but TB3-FW works. If you need to know and have a NDA with Intel, you can find this out. At some point I am sure it will get leaked public..

  8. Agreed on both. I was listening to "I Won't Lie to You" for the second time in a row when I came to this thread. The Peter Gabriel feeling never goes away, but as Dusty alluded to it never feels bad either. No one can really "live up" to Peter Gabriel, but Francis gives it a respectable go.

  9. Stax mafia boards linked to in the stax mafia boards thread i highly recommend you doing a diy-t2 as your first amplifier. More than one person has done this. If you survive you will learn a lot less dangerous is the supersymmetry dynalo with the golden reference power supply then the current feedback amp balanced or single ended with the golden reference power supply more challenging is the uber2 amp

  11. Picked up my BMW Navigation system and grabbed the SCHUBERTH comm package for my helmet. Now since the bike is in winter storage I will need to set it all up and then walk the streets with my helmet on and the GPS directing so I can check that I can talk on the phone, listen to music and get directions all in the proper priority. Maybe no one will notice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. Must be double digit losses. I'd text JP and ask which JH you might want because he has made relatively recent comparisons. I'm supposed to be receiving the Turkish Delight customs arranged through Özgür. I can tell you how they sound compared to original jh13s...

  14. Receive my upgraded Yggy this afternoon. Opened the box up, and on top, the work invoice noted in big black writing: Left cover dented with scratches. Pulled the Yggy out of its plastic bag and sure enough, the front corner was whacked. I did not send it in that way. So, I pulled the cover to see if Schitt actually upgraded to the Analog v2 boards -they had. But I noticed that some internal scratches I had put in the original cover when I first opened up years ago were gone (used a putty knife to pry the ribbon cable connector and galled an inner edge on the soft aluminum cover). That was not on this cover. Seems they swapped covers with another person’s Yggy and then tried to cover their ass on the work invoice. So, wrote Schitt, got a new RMA and it ships back tomorrow for “repair”. Fucking ham fisted wankers...
