  1. Yesterday was a fun one despite the heat here in TX. A friend invited me to go to the track with him for open test and tune. He's a member at MSR south of Houston. Nice facility where I've run before...over 2 miles and between 15-20 turns....some slow and some quite fast. Can be run clockwise or counter and they were running clockwise. After the rains there was a lot of water off track, but the track had dried nicely before any runs. 30 minutes for cars and 30 minutes for bikes. Good open track program. He first took us out in his 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 sporting Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s. Stick shift car. Naturally aspirated six cylinder. What a great drive. He pushed it but not overly hard as the car is just too darn nice to go off track with when there's standing water. Super balanced and I'd have to give the rubber a thumbs up for a street legal tire. Perhaps not the best tire, but very solid. All the nannies were shut off and the car is about as low tech as you can get. Great feedback from the road and damn was it balanced. Great power, braking, etc... What impressed me the most was how forgiving it is of road nasties while still providing great feedback. Super impressed. Sits a bit low to drive around town IMO so I'd be leary of using it as a daily or taking it up a steep driveway / curb. The MX-5 Cup car was what we really came to have fun in. This one has a couple of years on it so it's not the brand new upgraded motor, but it's a fun little ride and a true road car. This one we pushed hard, especially when a friend that had just blown a motor and replaced it with the new one came on the track for a challenge. Great fun! It's only a matter of time and money, right....LOL HS

  4. Two comedy plays in Stratford (on Avon) yesterday. We live 60 miles away so it is an easy drive. First one was As You Like It by Shakespeare https://www.rsc.org.uk/as-you-like-it/. The Royal Shakespeare Company produce superb plays, and this was one of those. They keep them totally fresh, and very easy to understand, not at all high-brow. That was in the afternoon. Second one, in the evening, was a late Restoration Comedy called The Provoked Wife, by Vanbrugh, again superb. https://www.rsc.org.uk/the-provoked-wife/ Bit of background. Oliver Cromwell was one of the key people behind the Civil War in England in the mid 1600's. Once his troops had seized power, he had the king Charles I beheaded. Being hard puritans, they put in place reforms that included defacing the inside of churches and cathedrals, painting the insides white (covering up medieval wall paintings) and chipping the faces from statues of saints etc. They also banned public entertainment (and closed all the theatres), shut many pubs, sport and even swearing (anyone playing sport was flogged, swearing was a fine). Britain became a cheerless place. When Cromwell died, Charles II (who had been living in exile in Holland) was restored to the throne, and reversed all of Cromwell's bans - which was exceedingly popular! Theatres was all reopened, and playwrights all went to town with the Restoration Comedies - all of them bawdy and hilarious. One of the late Restoration playwrights was John Vanbrugh. As astonishingly versatile guy, he was not only a well known playwright, he was also an architect - designing Castle Howard https://www.castlehoward.co.uk/ and Blenheim Palace https://www.blenheimpalace.com/ . PS Charles II escaped after a 650 mile flight with a reward of £1000 on his head, and pursued by Cromwell's troops. He was so pissed when he was restored to the throne, he had those who had signed the death warrant for his father Charles I arrested, and had them hanged, drawn and quartered in The Mall in London. He also had Cromwell's body dug up and posthumously hanged in public.

  5. The showreel is one of the best parts of Mixlr. My sainted mother goes to bed like 2 hours before my show airs, but she always listens the following morning (you know, right around the time *I* go to bed, but I digress....) I've been listening to last night's show as I install the new 27" monitor I bought (see other threads) and well... it's a good thing I DJ such chill music. I have been cursing and yelling at inanimate objects as I wrangle various computer hardware.

  7. My issues with pin buckles are three : 1: I like the security of putting on and taking off a watch with a deployment 2: I find the action of the deployment faster 3: I am far to stupid to remember which hole is the correct one, seriously is fuck this up all the time and have to adjust after about 20 minutes.

  8. Its a fun watch especially for the summer. The blue can look quite different depending on the lighting. It goes from a deep navy to a rich royal blue. The rubber strap is also supper comfortable and perfect for hot weather; I love that you can wear rubber straps relatively loose and the watch wont move because the rubber grabs your skin. I also think they did the GMT function well on this particular watch with the inner chapter ring, that way you still keep a functional dive bezel. The numerals, indices, Omega txt, Omega logo and 'GMT' are all applied not printed. And something that other manufacturers are finally picking up on: a dial colored date wheel. This watch does highlight one issue I have with my 2018 Seamaster diver 300m.. I have the bracelet and a factory NATO for the 300m, but I would love to have a rubber strap for it too. However unlike the factory Planet Ocean rubber strap which has a wonderful titanium and ceramic deployment, the diver 300m factory rubber strap is a pin buckle. At this price point the Diver 300m should also have a deployment.

  9. Speaking of thick watches.. Had my pam out at the water park with my kids on Wednesday. Love the 10 dollar silicone strap i got off amazon for it. And even though it's been here for a month I haven't been able to wear my planet ocean big blue because it's a birthday present from the wife. But my birthdays this Monday, so i get it today so I can wear it for dinner with her tonight.

  11. Agreed on the heat (full size vs. mini). I really don't view the MPSWs as being a problem though. Rough install... if I do this, I will attempt to get everything aligned all nice and purdy... I don't know for sure, but in my current estimation, the minis I've built sound better than the full size My full size is running at 17-18mA bias. Perhaps I've gone too far?
