  4. It's alive! Finished wiring today, only thing missing is drilling the front panel for the 4 pin XLR, waiting on a drill bit. Probably the best amplifier I had for the HD650. Absolutely dead silent, great sound! I'll need to make a better comparison with the dynalo mini, but at first glance it sure seems like a winner. Thanks for all the help I got during the build!

  5. Same, also signed up to overpay for them a little bit. It felt unjust not to.

  6. New Jersey keepin' it classy. I played this on last Friday's Test Tone. Satanic exorcism, plus all the fried chicken you can eat, Kentucky, 1942. From 2012: β€œTo promote the upcoming premiere of the television drama Hunted, Cinemax took out advertisements on Wall Street promoting the show's fictional company, Byzantium Security International.”

  7. So I built I fire today... This will eventually be a golden reference bias supply / doubler (because over-kill has no limits). My probe apparently touched something it shouldn’t have. Quite the spectacular fireworks. My heart is still racing

  9. A bunch more games have been added to the bundle linked above, and it's sitting at 1427 games and tools now. The very highly rated Celeste was among the recent additions. There's still six days left to get the bundle if you haven't.

  12. So when I got my case I got pretty upset with the looks of the power switch: So I search around the house for what could be used to improve this and found and unused aluminum kitchen drawer handle. Nice looks, hollow and easy to cut. A couple of minutes later:

  20. I enjoyed this one... even with the volume turned really low, my heart started beating faster as if a real set of drums was in the room... that's a crazy feeling when the drum sounds are going through your body

  22. With my own machined aluminum buttons, they are quite smooth. You need to press a bit harder than the illuminated switches though. They also sell plastic buttons but the feeling was not so great.

  23. The Satanic Exorcism and Fried Chicken image is a brilliant bit of photoshop editing. It started life as the much more boring:

  24. Headphones ordered roughly by decreasing frequency of use: Audio Zenith PMx2 (really convenient!) Stax SR-007A (mid-2015 revision) (paired with a KGSSHV Carbon or KGST) Campfire Audio Andromeda JH13fp (of course) Oppo PM-3 (for closed use, often when playing (digital) piano) Sennheiser HD600 (mid-1999!) Still consider the HD800 an excellent headphone albeit one that benefits more from EQ than any of the above. Heard many current-TOTLs, consider most of them underwhelming or flawed compared to the above. Curious about ZMF products, never had a chance to try one unfortunately. Speakers, including inexpensive ones, surpass all of the above by a large margin, but I don't live alone so can't rock them too often.

  25. When he said the Jaeger's movement was relatively simple I was scared of what a complicated one would look like. I really like his conservationist approach to watch maintenance and restoration.

  26. Well, actually Sunday & yesterday...in order: Fired my lawn-cutting guy Mowed & trimmed my own lawn for the first time in 4 years Realized how grossly out-of-shape I am The good news are: My push-mover fired up on the first try Since I'm still working from home, I can split the lawn-cutting tasks across at least two days to create a built-in lunchtime exercise activity

  27. Oh my. If this is TMoney's amp, then I heard it at a meet back in, what, 2014 I think? It's fantastic!! Got me on the road to building electrostatic amps and participating here on HC.

  29. My opinion is that the 1704 is a lovely chip that is probably not going to be easily bettered, there have not been leaps forward in DAC design in the last couple of decades, and that the analog portion matters more than anything in the digital chain. I can't comment on the relative merits of the specific devices.
