  1. Actually last week walking in Orkney and Shetland. Orkney is flat with wet pools and quite boring geographically, Shetland is much hillier and nicer to walk. Weather was uncharacteristically superb; the whole area is known for torrential rain and gale force winds, often together. Jarleshof is a Viking trading post on Shetland. The Old Man of Hoy is a famous 450 feet sea stack, and is notoriously difficult to climb. Scara Brea is a stone age settlement on Orkney. Note the stone sideboard! Real Flintstones. And two pics of us.

Agreed. Current post is completely different from the one I remember (as blessingx points out). Strange.
  8. I like Avril and I have great taste, so there's that. 😁
  9. Yes, I have shameful tastes. That being said, I'm enjoying these pop punk albums. Keep 'em coming! The sign of a solid album to me is if, after playing it, I want to throw it in to my regular rotation for a while. This one is a nice surprise.

Couldn't resist posting this - what cats think
  11. One of the fun things that happened early in the pandemic was I got to run a little corp virtual concert with her. She was pretty much outside my radar until then and I have to say she seems like a decent person and a beautiful voice. I'll also say sheltering in place, so having her kids be crew/tech support, has its ah downsides. Well, most of the songs were heard anyway. 😜
  12. I mentioned this in the Ambient/IDM thread, but it's relevant here as well. Woob's 1994 album 1194, AKA the second greatest ambient album of the 1990s (mere mortals cannot topple Substrata) got a crowd funded vinyl release some 28 years after it came out on CD. I am really curious how they'll manage to cut the 32 minute opening track on to a side of wax.

Where did the “same error, looking for simple solution” request go? 🤔

Nate, you are partially correct. Out of frustration I cleaned the cache, logged out of MS, reset the password, utilized various MS online trouble shooting links which did nothing but load tracking cookies, turned off the computer then booted from disk. It worked, things are back to the way they were. I hate Microshaft.
  16. Sorry for your troubles with the magic side table, Jeff. I've been meaning to post another plug for Doug's idea of waiting for a combo jointer/planer. I've been using my Hammer A3-31 in both modes to mill some maple and it is such a joy to use. It is very smooth to operate and the results are fantastic. The minor hassle of converting between modes is worth having both tools in one relatively small footprint. I'm sure it will take awhile to get one but it will be worth it. Speaking of maple, Steve and I have finished the miter saw station gave frames and drawer fronts. Very happy with the station and its functionality. Not measuring most cuts because of the StealthStop works great and is really precise. I also got a hose adapter so I could use the 2.5" hose with the Kapex.

I was pretty sure Kikik (kitten) was going to eviscerate Bobby (senior), but she didn't.
  18. Live From the Ryman And More Sheryl Crow 2021 https://album.link/i/1568134877 Example: I had never seen her perform live, and I don't know why. The songs that I like, I really like. Voice and performance very strong. And overall a good recording. It has a Tom Petty jam session vibe - maybe shared a lot of performers.

We’ve been feeding our local opossums for about a year (and watch them on the security camera). Yumi really wants to get one but I’m pretty sure our male cat Tuve will kill then.
  20. If you don't like the personality of the forum, why the everloving fuck do you keep coming back? Seriously, stop fucking whining. We get it, you love the pile of hot garbage to the point you're willing to look like a paid spokesmodel. You posted a diatribe on shill central, and pointed people here to it. It was pointed out why it's hot garbage. You said you don't understand the words that were used, but you love the beautiful beautiful music. Cool. Now you're just urinating in the oscillator. If you wait out your time out, and have a reasonable conversation, then you're welcome to come back. This isn't head-fi. It's intentionally not head-fi. It was created by people that were more than familiar with head-fi, and moved over here to get away from walls of mindless drivel over equipment that is hot garbage. So piss off, take your time out, and come back if you want, or just fuck off.

Greg, I looked into this a bit and it sounds like it could also be an issue related to your account. You might trying signing out of M$ (on the PC) and back in to see if that triggers anything. There are a few support articles related to this but not knowing the apps that you’re talking about and whether or not they were purchased direct from M$ or if you mean programs you downloaded/installed. Also, I think the start button and search function being offline point to a smoking gun internal to the Win10 shell, not hardware. http://woshub.com/start-menu-taskbar-search-not-working-windows-10/ If you haven’t tried some of the suggestions in that link, you might try. My bet is a corrupted registry key as that can turn the whole cart upside down and if you can get that to regen you might get back to a workable state. But I also find that when Windows has effed itself this badly the best solution is to grab all the data that you need from the HD, wipe, and start fresh.
  24. RIP Klaus Schultze.
  25. OMA has a new turntable. I really like this table but am just a bit shy of the asking price. Does anyone have an extra $349,000 just lying around?
