  1. Watched Milo rescue what we assume was a waterlogged field mouse of some sort. We just happened to wander into Stretch's garden and Milo miraculously spotted what he first thought was a mole, in a PVC drain pipe. He was barely able to keep his head above water. No telling how long he was trapped in that pipe. Assuming he fell in while looking for a drink. Milo was able to grasp him with some kitchen tongs Stretch grabbed. He set him in a bushy area to hopefully regain his strength and resume his/her field mouse duties.

  2. Not today but yesterday. Caught a rattle snake on my back patio and chased a coyote out of my driveway. Now waiting for a Yeti to walk into my back yard looking for my wine stash.

  4. I have been getting back at this..working up to a limited run of these as the STAX SR-X9000 and Audeze CRBN have made that need to happen. But the chassis is extraordinarily expensive and difficult to produce, so I am working at ways to fix that. Also need to put it on the scale, thought it was 45lb but feels more like 60lb haha. It's really not that big of a footprint (13.5x18), but it makes the BHSE look like a toy. Power consumption is 190-200W depending on tubes, with 90-100W of that being heaters. The bottom of the amp is ice cold and the top is pleasantly toasty. The first 3 stages have recessed slide switches on top to switch 6.3 to 12.6v heaters, so common tube types are: 1st: 6SN7/12SN7, 12AU7 and many others w/ 8 to 9 pin adapter 2nd: 6SL7/12SL7, 12AX7 and many others w/ 8 to 9 pin adapter 3rd: 6N6P, ECC99, 12BH7A, possibly others such as 5687 w/ pin-out adapter 4th: Emission Labs 20B-V4

  5. Made some guisada -- it came out great! -- pretty similar to my recipe for ghoulash, except added achiote seeds to get that distinct flavour and almond flour to thicken it up, so that it would stay on tortillas.

  8. if you are using a multimeter with a 10Mohm input impedance then you will not measure the actual voltage. The stax bias output is very high impendence i.e. provides very very little current and so even the current draw of a 10Mohm multimeter will load down the bias and you will measure lower than expected. Either you need a meter with a Gohm or higher input impedance at 1000V or you need to measure before the current limiting system on the bias output. For example the golden reference HV power supply bias circuit has a 4.7Mohm current limit resistor just before the output so you need to measure before that limiting resistor and of course be careful because if you multimeter can't handle 580V or you touch the probes etc you will get a non-current limited 580V DC shock which is not going to be good for you. incidentally I get about 378V DC at the socket on my diy T2 (pro bias only) into a 10Mohm meter BUT this value is going to be very dependant upon the value of the current limit resistor in the bias circuit. So if you amps current limit resistor has a lower value then 420V is not necessarily unrealistic.

  13. Arrived yesterday and it really opens up every electrostatic headphone that I own. I was looking for an amp that can bring more bass out of my HE90 than HEV90 so I drained my pocket to bid on this and now I am very satisfied. The hev90 has a romantic sound but the t2 amplifies every piece of detail, expand the soundstage to what ever possible with extreme fineness and sweetness. Buying any head-fi gear at this price is ridiculous but considering the previous closing bid I think I got a fair deal. And it is so rare to have T2 being sold alone. I do not need another pair of omega so this deal saves me a lot of money. But this amp's functionality in long run is questionable. I hope my handful of obsolete FETs stock will save me some pain when I need to fix this in the future.

  15. Well, not sure which one did it, but Lauren found my recently purchased matched pair of JJ ECC88 Gold Pins downstairs with the boxes torn apart. Pretty sure the newest kitty stole them from my desk and knocked them down the stairs from my office. They looked intact, so I tried them and found one or both are trashed. They weren't too expensive, but a bit of a bummer since I didn't have a chance to try them in the Valhalla 2.
