I've been without AC for a week but finally getting a new condenser in. They originally thought a crane would work but then decided there were too many power lines and went through the fence instead (there isn't enough room on the side of the house to get it through... dumb builders). Phew. Sleeping in the heat sucks (though I finally broke down and got a portable AC unit on Sunday).4 points

Gorillaz 20th Anniversary Tour Also spotted: a @909 in the wild! Love this album so stoked it was represented Damon seems to truly care and is passionate in his performance Thought an Mmmm-Hale-Bopp mashup was coming, but no such luck Uber drivers wouldnt let him drive, so we tried the monorail. They wouldn’t let him drive either. Idk why. We were posted up in front of the sound booth. I think the sound guy noticed David has JH Audio custom earplugs so he got the set list!!! It’s now residing with me; love it! This is the instrument I should have played growing up instead of saxophone. Alas. Perhaps in my next life/simulation. Dig the venue And the photographer was literally right behind us. Hoping to find some of those images soon. Had a good time; this was a bucket list band for me to see live3 points

Houston in summer with no AC. Can't picture much worse. Glad you survived!1 point

Wow....I have never seen that movie (and maybe it's a good thing; but I like Heather as well). My favorite Heather movie isn't actually Austin Powers, but instead a little no-name called Gray Matters. A light fun romp, not super deep but I managed to like just about all the characters.1 point

Terrible movie but 18-year-old me remembers young Heather Graham very fondly.1 point

Really I don't think you'll notice much difference. Some of my colleagues bought the 1030 two years ago and it has practically the same functions. In fact, for example it is physically identical (I have put a cover and a 1030 tempered glass and it fits perfectly) This weekend we were able to compare them I can say you that "nothing new under the sun". We were also able to compare the 1040 solar and EMO for the moment until the screen/solar panel technology evolves, it is not worth investing the extra €160 vs. 1040 edge1 point

Great job! Looks like an amazing and successful weekend.1 point

"Let's roll." Flight 93 hero Todd Beamer along with Tom Burnett, Jeremy Glick and Mark Bingham, attempted to overwhelm the hijackers of Flight 93. Moments later the plane would crash. Todd's Rolex watch, recovered from the crash site. The date still reads "11" September.1 point

Not sure how it is seen in the UK, but I know some here see it as the end of an era. To many, her death was the end of a generation with class and dignity. Starting now with Prince King Charles, it is a family with many issues, scandals, etc. It also helps take away focus from the shit-show currently going on otherwise I'd bet....1 point

(I hate this autoappend thingy. Can we not have it manually selectable?) Nick Mason and the Queen tinkering with his Ferrari 250GTO1 point

The so-called 'active battery' is a shunt regulator IMHO. I would recommend that you simulate any circuit changes for performance (shunt impedance) and stability. The original circuit does not seem to have enough phase margin and can use some compensation. My calculation shows either adding a 1.2pf cap across the two 820k feedback resistors, or increasing the shunt capacitance to 0.1uF would help. They each have their pros and cons. The calculated capacitance is so small that parasitics can throw the circuit in either way and make it 'touchy'. Using 2.2nF compensation cap would significantly increase the loop gain in the mid- to high-audio frequency range and reduce the output impedance as you have observed, but also make the stability worse. Since the active battery is part of the signal chain, I would rather shoot for flat impedance across the audio range and as small phase shift (group delay) as possible. I'm not sure what your test gig looks like. It would be important to test it with a source impedance similar to the real circuit. My sim tells me that the original circuit when properly compensated can be pretty flat within 20KHz and has -3dB point over 200KHz. On the other hand, the LT1021 due to its high-ish operating current requirement, does not necessarily bring much gain to the overall performance of the active battery compared to the LED strings.1 point

The first mini rock opera. During the whole melee, John Entwhistle just stands still and plays the bass until he does the last verse in falsetto. If you haven't watched The Kids Are Alright, you should. Many more examples of Moon Madness and all the rest. Great interview breaks, including Keith and Ringo both totally lit. I've posted it before, but this is me and my Whomobile about a year after watching The Kids Are Alright when it first came out and months after my first Who concert where I spray painted the logo in the Oakland Arena parking lot.1 point
