  1. Assembled a new pair of drivers with aluminum mesh holders, the headphone now weighs less than 360 grams which is a lot more comfortable for my neck

  2. It's entirely possible that post rock has previously underutilized saxophones.

  3. Perhaps not post rock, but Morphine begs to remind you that they showed how epic the sax was in rock.

  4. No Sun Nite Jewel 2021 https://album.link/i/1560738062 (link tree needs to be updated) Example: Hard to categorize - the opening track sound like the beginning to a musical. The album is eclectic, pretty, surprising, and probably deeper than appears at first listen. Reminds me of the first time I heard Goldfrapp.

  5. These are not on the home page this morning, and others mentioned it elsewhere so I'm not the only one missing them. Can they be restored? Thanks in advance...

  6. Fucked up indeed. The article I saw last night suggested that the shooter was FB friends with Officer Hamzy, which adds another twisted element that Hamzy was targeted, as opposed to just cops in general. At least the asshole is dead too, but I don't know if he killed himself or the officers did it.

  7. That's very cool. 🙂 The old ones were brass?

  8. Yea, same thought on Morphine, which guess if we’re all thinking of the same exception proves Stretch’s point. And whenever I think of Morphine I think of the Bay Area band Fuck. And just looking up Fuck for some playback, stumbled across a similarly named band… And more…

  9. He was a really good comic actor. His early sketch stuff in the 80s was pretty groundbreaking for the UK. RIP Robbie.

  10. I would suggest go full dual mono as you've started above, with separate pot ground for left and right channels. Also, I would suggest not to connect the grounds as in the schematic above. With everything tied to one point, all current between amp and psu boards has to flow through that point, to which the pot grounds also happen to be connected. Not optimal, and not really what is meant with a star ground designed to avoid hum. Instead, try connecting the left amp board ground directly to the left GRLV ground and the right amp board ground directly to right GRLV ground, and then reference only the GRLV grounds and pot grounds (not amp grounds) to chassi ground, either directly or through 10R.

  11. As you basically have a dual mono setup, try completely separating ground for both channels, and connect then each ground centrally to the chassis (via the 10R resistor as you did or a real circuit breaker). So you will have a star ground per channel which is connected to another star (chassis at IEC connector with both channels master grounds). What you did with separating ground on the pot was the right beginning in this direction.

  13. Bastion Original Soundtrack Darren Korb 2011 https://song.link/i/459457476 Example: A game that I can honestly say that I completed 3 times just because I wanted to listen to the soundtrack again, in context. It has a very Firefly soundtrack feel to it. The story and game built up to such a level that I find it hard to fight back tears when the above Zia's theme comes in.

  14. Progy prog day The Human Equation Ayreon 2004 https://album.link/i/1600474851 Example: This really is the album that got me into modern prog - that being beyond the Yes, Genesis, Floyd, ELP, Crimson, etc... that I was listening to. It showed me a modern concept album (this about a person in a coma from a car crash), with a fusion of modern styles and classic elements. Thank you Arjen Anthony Lucassen and all your projects.

  15. It is likely that the #80 mesh is not easy to make a stator by hand, which leads to the failure of the omega driver, and the driver housing made by resin at that time was not as strong as later 007 009 though. There are some DIY estats such as Perun and Phenomenon in Russia, they use much lower number size copper mesh as stator. I have owned a pair of perun, the stators are made of about #10 copper mesh, the mesh itself is very strong actually, and is glued to the PCB holder with structural adhesive. As for the glass stator of the HE90, the glass is indeed rigid, However, as a stator, it does not play the role in the Sennheiser advertisement at all. The only thing I can expect is that the glass is chemically stable and not easy to be corroded or oxidized, and Manufacturing microporous glass plate is extremely expensive which also leads to the insane price of the HE90... Unfortunately, Sennheiser is now not planning to stop, they use even more expensive ceramic based PCB stator on HE1.😦

  16. Added a NPN, a trimmer and some resistor. With those it should be possible to set current through output transistors. Well, that’s the idea. If it works I probably let you know…

  17. Senior HeadCase member MLA has lent me his Dynahi. A week listening to it have convinced me that one actually can listen to non-electrostatic headphones. So here is my first attempt... ... a balanced something with lsj689 and lsk489. And as always everything I make is based on a Kevin design. In this case on the famous Dynahi.

  18. Two officers of the nearby Bristol police department: Sergeant Dustin Demonte, who lives in my hometown, & Officer Alex Hamzy were both shot & killed in the line of duty in an ambush attack on October 12. They leave behind wives & very young children (including one on the way). A third officer: Officer Alec Iurato was also seriously wounded by a gunshot, but thankfully survived. I don't know what to say, other than this is another fucked-up, senseless tragedy impacting many families, the local community, and the nation at large, forever.

  19. It's an ONSemi part. I really don't know what has happened with ONsemi. They bought Fairchild and Sanyo, and have obsoleted most of the really useful audio parts. Anything remaining has ended up on ridiculous lead times. We're well beyond the Covid excuse, and I'm left with bungling corporate incompetence as the only explanation remaining
