  1. Milo & Otis finally had another chance to do a project for fun. I have been wanting a small scale audio rack for the bedroom rig. Steve came up with a design idea using some 8/4 mahogany that he got for a song a few years ago from a guy closing up his shop. We also had a length of 8/4 white oak left over from a job last year. The shelves are mahogany and the tapered legs are white oak notched into shelves. Got all the pieces milled and a dry fit done today. It's looking great and will be greater still with sanding, chamferered edges and Rubio Monocoat finish.

  4. Anyone jumping on the Audeze sale? https://www.audeze.com/products/promo-2022?utm_source=B-Stock Sale EDIT: Well, I almost did. 20 minutes of trying to get into an existing account, that seemed not to exist until I created a new one with same email address, which then listed past orders so existing, ended up with a sold out LCD3 Zebrawood at payment stage. Damn. Oh well. $1K for photography gear I guess.

  7. The shot I just had was pretty good considering I forgot to put the shower screen in with the Flair 58. It made it a turbo. Was perfectly enjoyable.

  8. Dusty, after you posted the Iron Maiden covers, I've been hooked. I'm not sure what it is about Nemophila. I think maybe it's just that they always bring the fire and have fun doing it. The singer is just fantastic. My favorite is the drummer. Always smiling but when the music gets edgy or nasty, she gets a gritty look on her face.

  9. I'm definitely coming around on them. 😁 I am totally enamored with the singing by Nemophila's lead singer. Have you done a deep dive yet? Part power metal with Van Halen harmonies; part harsh (witchy-poo, but very musical). It's not prog, but sometimes I just want dumb old rock'n'roll that's catchy as shit.

  10. Abyss Unleash The Archers 2020 https://album.link/i/1513417513 Example: I have been sleeping on this 2020 (most recent release) from Unleash The Archers. I won't let it happen again. I missed two years without having Brittney Slayes sing to me, and being backed by one of the better technical bands out there. I will have to put this into rotation to be able to listen to their lyrics better. This is one of those albums that got caught in the pandemic with no tour to back it up and support it. God bless female metal singers.

  11. I had my force field engaged. It actually eminates from an area that is disguised to look exactly like a bald spot on my head. But the informed know better. A matching headphone stand may or may not be built to set upon the top shelf. I haven't built a headphone stand in years.

  14. Yeah, kind of a small surface practice to figure out how to do this across an 8’ dresser next.

  15. The plywood walnut definitely has more of a red tone than the solid walnut; but then again, the drawer fronts do not really match the top so not too big of a deal. The dog supply cabinet is as far as I can get it now without decisions on drawer pulls.

  17. T2 psu back panel, design and cut. I wanted to have the pin outs of the sockets for the umbilical chords from the psu to amp to be on the psu back for future reference.. I decided to go for 10degree 0.1mm tip engraving bit for the lettering, 0.025mm depth of cut rather than laser. Screw holes done with 3.175 end mill and main cut outs 6mm end mill. Now I have a good collection of quality bits and little experience now. CNC machining is starting to become FUN 🙂. Its so much nicer and more satisfying watching a CNC cut than using a hand drill and Dremel... Tool changing is a bit of a hassle and then I have to use a Z block and Z probe command get the new Z height reference for the tool sickout. So I try to minimise the number of different tools used. Tape hold-down and CA glue works perfectly. I'm very happy with the surface finish, perhaps the text for the pinouts and lines could be a little narrower, but its certainly not a disaster. Cut still currently in progress: The nice thing about symmetrical panels is that you can always adjust your settings and have another go with the other side... I decided to decrease the line width by half, nock 20% off the size of the socket decals, decrease the socket decal font size, change the style of the lines and reduce the engraving depth from 0.025 to 0.02mm... I think the new version should look a little less blocky and a bit more refined... The 0.02mm engraving depth is slightly too little, other than that I think its an improvement.

  18. My CFA3smd something, now powered from a switched mode power supply and equipped with a headphone protector. I’ll test this for a while and if I like it I might build a decent cage for it. Else I’ve a growing "good to have" closet.
