  2. One of the YouTube woodworkers that I enjoy watching is Bourbon Moth woodworking. Jason Hibbs builds some fun stuff, and the quality of his work is very good. His humor is a bit over the top, but I've come to enjoy it. It seems others have as well. He was approached by Joanna Gains, who started Magnolia Network. And starting Saturday, Jason will have a real TV show, called Hibbs Shows You How. Again, the first episode airs on Magnolia Network this Saturday, for anyone interested.

  3. After two pounds of coffee, I am starting to get the hang of the Oracle. The new portafilter helps with being about to see the flow and distribution. I am on my third new coffee now. And I am able to get it dialed in with about three shots. I seem to work best starting with too much flow {a bit sour} and then work towards making it stronger and more extracted. My palate can detect that easier than starting on the bitter side. I wanted a bit more coffee in my latte, So I have increased my dose up to 22 in and 45 out, right at 35 second. I will probably decrease my milk volume a bit to give me a little more coffee ratio. Still a few things I may change, the burr set is a little worn {rough cutting edge}, and they are relatively cheap to replace. It was a used machine. But overall I am becoming more happy with it as I use it more. Surprise, good coffee makes me happy. cheers

  4. Finally finished the last part of my side deck that will store various water things. Making the gate hard - I kinda made things up. I think maybe I did it all backwards, but oh well - there is no other entrance to this area so the gate stoppers are visible and since it’s all on a slope the had to be cut different lengths. It works and kinda matches the hog wire. At some point I would like to put something on the gate - some art of some kind, maybe need to enlist the ping-pongers Oh and you can see the concrete slopes where it meets the deck - grinding that down was super fun!

  5. I never really watch a couple of popular ones, Stumpy, 731 Woodworking, etc. as they seem to only be there to sell shit or defend companies that have negative press. I certainly watch Bourbon but there are too many ads for nonsense from him as well these days.

  6. Nice! It feels really good when you get things dialed in. Plus, as you say: good coffee makes you happy.

  7. Speedy gone, Hermes Slim D’Hermes in grey incoming. I think I’m at or very close to a watch stable that will be, well, stable.

  8. I saw this yesterday and it's funky. The guy was in it for something like 40 sec. For context, I run a mile in what used to be my car in say 28 sec's and I ran 212mph best. I'm not questioning the speed but the distance it was accomplished over is very questionable based on the video. I did get to see a different Ford GT (same model) go 300mph in the standing mile and it was glorious. The team has since concluded it is no longer a how fast, but can it stop situation. Despite the parachutes... vroom vroom.... HS

  9. Thanks for posted picture Kerry. Your astonishing builds are very inspiring. In the original T2 PSU the 60-volt section is regulated by LT783 which I think is good enough. But inspired by Kerry I did this little fellow (the small copper clad with test leads) to replace the LT783 regulator. Connected to main board via three connections. Works like a charm – knock on wood.

  10. Makes it crazier to think top fuel dragsters do it twice as fast with sub 4 second 1/4 mile times.

  11. This is so stupidly fast that it looked fake when this car ran the Goodwood hill climb.

  12. I think the First Omega in Space is a great size, especially if you're a fan of manual winds. I wasn't a huge fan of the lambskin strap so I had a custom alligator one made by the shop that makes the original lambskin ones so the fitment is spot on and the deployant clasp I requested is more to my liking. I agree...shame the Ed White is silly money. Sexy beast... HS

  13. On a trip back (time and space) to rural Ohio to visit family for Thanksgiving, I shot film for the first time in at least 30 years. Went with Ilford HP5+ (Nikon F4 and 50 f/1.8) and did my fair share of missing exposure. And I seemed to pick the comically bad lab to develop and scan, but all part of the process, I guess. These are nothing special, but said I'd post some shots in the other thread so here they are. A sampling of digital (Leica SL & CV 35, 50 APOs) at the end on the same trip too. As it was the longest gap of visits (pandemic!), it felt the furthest away from my current Silicon Valley suburban life. Plenty of emotions. Plenty of Trump signs. The digital...

  15. It’s a balanced board. Inputs in center. Outputs at far right and far left. Positive rail at top edge and negative rail at bottom. Dynahi boards mounted to 80 mm x 300 mm heat sinks. Here I’ve removed upper screws holding front and back plates to heat sinks and then “unfolded” for maintenance. To make it possible to unfold the wires are made “to long” when folded and then it looks like a snake nest. This is an Only DIY version, not to be sold... I hope this makes it a bit clearer.

  16. Today has gone utterly off the rails. I am supposed to move out of the house I've been in for 22 years on Monday. The power went out an hour ago. Not fully, but a massive voltage sag. 60V coming out of the walls. My sainted, octogenarian mother is staying with me. She's been feeling ill for hours. She said she was feeling faint and asked me to call an ambulance. She list left in it. I'm staying here for now to make sure the house stays upright while National Grid defends their title as Most Incompetent Entity in the Known Universe.
