  3. Now I think I’ve a 300B filament power unit I like. All smd on bottom side and common (through hole) trimmers and LEDs, and the Tracos of course on top side. With trimmers voltage at tube pins is easily set to 5.00 +/-0,05V. There is voltage drop cross wires and solid-state relays. Cover with ventilation slots. The Tracos produce some heat.

  4. I found a website, openstreetmap.org, that has most (but not all) of the stairs, lanes, paths, and public rights of way marked. A lot of them are not on google maps or Apple Maps. This is so cool! A lot of these paths are barely marked and you could walk/drive right by them without knowing they were there. I've been plotting out interesting walks while I've been stuck on conference calls and double checking that the paths are actually there on google maps street view. Some fun looking routes in southern marin that I hope to do. Corte Madera Stair Tour: Sausalito Stair Tour: Mill Valley Stair Tour:

  8. Actually this was yesterday. One of the bosses is remodeling his bathroom as a surprise, while his wife is in Ireland with the kids. He hated his vanity, and just wanted some simple shelves, which I milled and glued up from rough cut Redwood. Not shown is the second shelf which sits on the concrete slab, and buts against the existing floor tile, which is staying. This will receive 3 coats of a Marine spar varnish. Today's project is outdoor railing caps for three decks on a project that's just about done. These will set atop 2" wide metal railings. The grooves I milled to 2 3/4" wide, to also accommodate LED light strips that will shine down on the deck.

  9. pretty sure all of my boards have the holes electrically isolated.

  10. Hey Sam, I really appreciate the offer, but that’s okay: I’m too afraid of it getting lost in transit (I’ve now had things lost by all three major carriers this year). Hopefully when I get the watch in however many months it’ll work out for me. Shouldn’t be too hard to sell if I don’t end up liking it!

  11. The vast majority of boards do not have the board mounting holes connected electrically to anything (though you should always verify this). I usually use aluminum standoffs, either 4-40 3/8" or M3 10mm.

  12. I am only using aluminium standoffs. If I don't need grounding, I just don't put pads on the PCB around the mounting holes. (If needed) I usually have a single hole only making contact to the case through the standoff for grounding. I also use female standoffs only. If I need a male on one of the sides, I add a male headless screw and some red of blue Loctite. Makes me keep less parts around. The hight of the standoffs really depends on the application. Around 10mm is common. #4-40 or M3 is a good common size for the thread.

  13. Since this thread isn't heading anywhere... I did a little comparison between three Lambda pads on the SR-303: Stock 303 pads, EP-507 pads and Lambda Nova Signature pads. Stock 303 pads: Detailed and airy, but shouty. Yuck. EP-507 pads: Hmm, the shout is gone. The sound has decent tonal weight now. Note: The EP-507 is actually a bit smaller than the other two. Lambda Nova Signature pads: No shout here either, a bit more airy than the EP-507 pads. Favourite pads so far. I wonder if the old "303/404 shout" is actually caused by Stax's pleather pads, rather than some inherent flaw in the driver. This could also explain why the 404 limited sounds better, as it uses leather pads instead of pleather.

  16. I have the Niche Zero. It has served me well, but I definitely see why some would want to upgrade. My biggest issue at the moment is dialing in my Chemex again. I went through my last box of filters which I thought might be a bit different than all the boxed I'd bought previously. This latest box is much changed. I have to grind finer to get the "resident" time for extraction. HS

  17. Newer GRLVs have a place for a 10R directly on the board. Make sure you understand the AES48-2005 as well https://usermanual.wiki/Document/ShieldWiringOfBalancedInputsAndOutputsAes482005F.2144015621.pdf

  18. Correct on the BÖC - the other Info: Sammy Hagar - Heavy Metal - From Standing Hampton (Released as Single) Blue Öyster Cult - Veteran Of The Psychic Wars - From Fire Of Unknown Origin Journey - Open Arms - From Escape The rest were created exclusively for the Soundtrack, with two exceptions: - Black Sabbath's "Mob Rules" as present on the album, is an early demo (which I like better). It was later Re-recorded on "Mob Rules". - Trust's "Prefabricated" is English-Language version of "Prefabriques", which appeared on "Trust" (a.k.a. "L'Élite"). Tracks that appeared in the movie, but not in OST: - "Through Being Cool" (from "New Traditionalists" by Devo) - "E5150" (from "Mob Rules" by Black Sabbath)

  19. Just finished casing. Case size 360*270*86mm (inner 280*255*73mm) Dual GRLV ±30V Extra DC supply for attenuator, relay boards and Protector. Ship-in-bottle-like building experience with small cases and multi layer PCBs. Some very soft cables would make it easier. Difficult to adjust those trimpots on splitboards after casing. Better to do the adjustment before casing. Spider webs at the input state is a mess. Better-designed PCBs can reduce half of the cables. Will fix that after I get a new back plate and PCBs.

  20. Gotta agree. Seminal. Which three? For complicated reasons, "Vengeance (The Pact)" was written for the film, but not used, because it kind of ruined the vignette by telling the story in the lyrics and would've been impossible to write an animation to. So I presume #1 is "Veteran of the Psychic Wars". The other two? Me: a bunch of underground shoegaze: Momentary, Distressor Darker Days, Pale Shade In the Interim, No Sun For Ever Six Times (Vinyl Version), Another Heaven Solace, Hex

  22. Heavy Metal Soundtrack Various Artists 1981 https://album.link/i/320264810 Example: Truly still one of the great movie soundtracks made, with only 3 of the 16 tracks not being directly written for the movie. Had to share the Felder track with one the great bass lines by Abraham Laboriel. And just for fun I found the score. I didn't see it on the streaming platforms.

  23. Got outside with the Light Lens Lab 50mm f/2 “Cooke” Speed Panchro II. For those not in the know LLL is doing historical recreations of long out of production classic lenses, a Cooke design this time, but usually Leica. It seems to be a split lens personality. Glow and vintage f/2-2.4, sharper and more modern very quickly as you climb. Distance plays a big role. Anyway, honeymoon stage and these are just short walks in Woodside and Alviso, CA this weekend to test, but as we have M-mount shooters posting a few to show rendering. Tempted to picked up their 50mm f/2 “Elcan”, now discontinued and prices climbing weekly, to give a go as original completely out of reach.
