Heather Nova - Breath and Air. Been a huge fan for years, she has an inner passion that I just love. Even though I don't think all her newer music is as strong as much of her earlier work, she still has that passion I love. I FINALLY got to see her live in a small setting, a semi-acoustic set with her brother (who goes by Misha); this was maybe 2-3 years ago, after having 2 different shows cancelled before that. A wonderful experience, got to chat a tiny bit after the show, she is very nice and gracious, really appreciates her fans. Example:2 points

Last night I did the first power-up. I used some very inexpensive 300Bs just in case anything went wrong and to avoid risking the expensive tubes. Balance was actually very normal. About 5 V on one channel and 3 V on the other. But the offset was around β100 V on both channels. Iβm guessing this is the ββ100 V outputβ issue you were referring to? Let me know if that matches what youβve seen. I havenβt had time to swap the cathode resistors yet. Measured Vgk is about β42 V, which is clearly not deep enough. Iβve ordered some 7.5 kΞ© resistors, which after calculation should bring Vgk closer to β90 V. Also, for anyone interested, here are the LMQ66430 output voltage setting resistor positions I used on my board: M20-8760542 is a header pin jumper. 1β2: reserved positions 3β4: 6.3 V 5β6: 5 V 7β8: 2.5 V 9β10: 1.5 V Hope this helps anyone planning similar setups.2 points

May be worse than that and see below, however the above R4 was $50 more everywhere (including Hiby) for the 3-4 weeks I searched and only lowered on Amazon a few days ago. I did see a SmallRig tripod whose sale price was the same as everywhere else most of the time though. Guess it depends. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/jul/07/amazon-grocery-deliveries-prime-day2 points

YouTube algorithm gave me this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0a3HdFyexE Preview render fail. Jazz Fusion It was awesome, so I looked up some of the others https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DimxQV6oCWI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmgGcE8vNPE ...which sent me down the Senri Kawaguchi rabbit hole (she's a jazz fusion drummer). I determined that she always associates with (chef's kiss) musicians, so I've been listening to a lot of her projects: Senri Kawaguchi Triangle, Jazz Avengers, et al. -- in addition to Nankai Trio. Antarctica will probably be my album of the year. I really love jazz fusion. EDIT: Oh, I fell down a different rabbit hole a while ago, while following the different acts that keyboardist Kiyomi Otaka from Casiopea was in. One of them was Kiyo*Sen, which was the two of them in a keyboard/drum collaboration.2 points

That's about as far as they can take these cars without becoming silhouette racers... you'll see different levels of extreme car building in the various classes of WTAC (a Porsche 968 has done really well). The cars have massive power and aero to achieve record times (RWD, AWD, FWD)... without the restrictions you seen in regular wheel-to-wheel GT racing. In Japan, Tsukuba's track is used for many Time Attack competitions and WTAC has been doing the same in Sydney for years (there was a lot of coverage on the website www.speedhunters.com). Crossing Borders by La Serenissima (2025) https://album.link/j4gkqzjvdxptv Example: Not what I expected from the album cover, but a lovely collection of Telemann, Sieber, Durante, Vivaldi, and Brescianello. Very well recorded and performed.1 point

After almost a week the smell from the stock SR-007S earpads has subsided so I put them back on... and they lasted there for a good hour before I removed them. What the hell were Stax thinking with these... Going from the 007Mk1 pads it was a drastic downgrade, bass, upper bass gets this reverb effect to it, midrange looses all definition and the top end is very peaky. The soundstage and imaging being poor on a 007 is pretty much rock bottom for performance. So I went back to the Kennerton pads as they were a better fit for the new arc and lack of rotation compared to the Mk1 pads. Sound is much tighter and more controlled with them with minimal downsides. As it stands now, I'm going to go with the Kennerton ECL-01 pads but I've gone on a bit of an earpad buying spree (as if I needed any more...) so there might be something better out there for them. To anybody with a set of SR-007S's, I'd recommend trying other earpads as the 105mm size is pretty common and they are easy enough to install.1 point

Ha - I literally watched this two days ago.. I watched the series when it came out and I owned it on tape. This vid did help me understand some things. I have watched some reactions to the series, and it is mostly people saying, WTF? most of the time... Great series, great use of stillness and the sound of cicadas. Anyway - The player looks cool, I don't think it fits my use case...1 point

I'm still in the honeymoon stage with my DAP to really know how I'm going to feel about it, but just in case anyone else is considering separating out portable audio old school/cassette/MiniDisc/iPod style from the phone and notifications and with headphone outs and decent power, the often recommended HiBy R4 is on sale for Prime Days for $199. Not the model I went with, but then again this wasn't on sale then or I may have. You just have to get around the "anime" design and a little weight.1 point

Still trying to make sense of Sunny's murder and failing to do so. I knew her for just under 30 years. I actually remember the day I met her. It was August 31st, 1997, my first day at Bradford College. Also the day Princess Diana died. I've been a photographer for two decades at this point, but I have precious few photos of Sunshine. I had been meaning to catch up with her for years, but as tragically is so often the case, I kept putting it off. The last conversation I had with her was two years ago when her father passed. I sent her this photo: I look it in 2012 with the never-not-shit EF-75-300mm. I ran it though the Silver FX Pro plugin, which I favored at the time. Mark (Sunny's dad) was ...a piece of work, but certainly a character. In this shot he's a man in his element. The only photos I have of Sunny herself are from 2007 and 2008. I took this one on my back porch in October of 2007. When I remember is she had to leave early. That fall was marked by two things: some of the best foliage colors I've ever witnessed in scenic western MA, and the absolute peak of dubstep. Not brostep fart noises, but the original very sparse minimal reggae tinged sound that started in say 2003 and was dead by 2009. There was a big dubstep party that happned about two days after Sunny left. I did the lights and if memory serves, I DJ'd at the after party. Initially Sunny wanted to attend, but business in Maine called her back. Sunny was possibly the biggest extrovery I ever knew. She had no shortage of self confience. Yet she did not like having her picture taken. This shot and the following one are from July of 2008, just shy of 17 years ago. She wasn't pleased that I was pointing my SLR at her. As I have said many times, I always prefer portraits where the subject is reacting to anything but the camera. I mentioned the Silfer FX Pro plugin earlier. Prior to that, I used to make heavy use to two Photoshop scripts I found in the mid 00s. One was "holgafy" and the other was "lomofy." Both were more than a bit heavy handed, but I taught myself to reverse engineer and wrangle them a bit. I did to passes with said scripts on a photo of Sunny in 2007, but never published the edits. I found them yesterday while looking for photos of her. I don't particularly like either edit, but he lo-fi effects of the scripts take on an entirely new meaning in light of Sunny's passing. At the risk of repeating myself, if you have someone you haven't spoken to in entirely too long, do it today. There may not be a tomorrow.0 points

Holy shit. One of my closest friends from college was murdered not far from where she lived. Sunny was one of the toughest people I've ever met. I can scarcely process this.0 points
