  1. The light fixture we ordered for our dining room finally arrived. When Lauren was out doing a newborn shoot today, I got it installed. It's pretty fly... 16 mason jars.

  3. Having sold all three of my personal KGST's over the last few months I decided to put my foot down and make one I can' be talked into selling. Use a pulled BH transformer that is 230V only (Justin might recognize this one), add a normal bias output and a lovely volume knob by Kevin.

  4. Thanks guys. Steve, when we pulled down the ceiling in the dining room, we found the beautiful hand-hewn beams in the living room didn't extend all the way to the back of the house. It was built in 1850, and the last 6 feet or so had half-round beams with the bark still on them... Not exactly the look we were going for. So when we were getting ready to re-frame the drywall ceiling, a coworker offered three 24' 8x6 beams from an 1800 era cape he owns. He needed to open up a wall and reframed the second floor. While it killed me to cut them to length, we were able to get enough to add those beams just below the existing framing and fill between. And the table was built from my father's old rough-sawn staging planks. He put it together after we mentioned wanting a harvest table in the new dining room. It's pretty cool to have that history in the table, and it fits the space perfectly.

  6. No pic, eaten too quickly. Made queso fundido w/ chorizo today for the superbowl party. It was quite good, despite only being able to find Spanish chorizo. My go-to butcher didn't make any this week. The leftover chopped peppers, onion, tomato and cilantro should make for an epic omelet tomorrow morning.

  10. I heard on the radio it was 19 1/2" at O'Hare. I saw 3 SUVs stuck in either the alleyways or side streets on the way in this AM. I pushed right through with my trusty Subaru! School was canceled for the kids. Luckily, since Anne is leaving her job anyway, she can call in this time!

  12. I watched Pete Carroll make a horrible decision to pass when he has the best running game in football and three tries to run it in from the 3 yard line. Would not recommend.

  14. Oh I think I am going to go with the uturn and that emotiva sale on the phone preamp. Should be small and simple enough for the wife to be able to play grandmas records and gives me an excuse to purchase vinyl.

  16. I love my 24F2.8 AIS. The prophet Ken Rockwell (and yes I'm joking about the prophet thing) assures us that the optics are the same. That being said, I would decide on a FOV~=focal length, and go from there. Its not *really* fair to compare such widely dis-similar focal lengths. Or since this is head-case, just buy them all. Because 24mm. Remembering by Lord Nikon 12, on Flickr Bridge in the fog by Lord Nikon 12, on Flickr
