  1. Lil'Woody's 1/3rd lb burger with Tillamook pepper jack and Hill's bacon with cheese covered fries. I'll be back, but with 2-3 people. Took over half of it to go. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk

  2. Thanks ! I'm using other quartets and I've found two that work relatively well (8 EH 6AC7 "Platinum Matched Quad"). Offset is located at -8 and 14Vdc and low to -3 and 8Vdc. Now I feel more code to listen to the amp. I'm listening to it right now, It's totally silent and I like its sound although the sound is a bit "bass" for my taste. In the first and second stages I am using 6189 Sylvania JAN and ECC83 Svetlana W"C" . I'll leave a little time before going through those E80CC... what the hell? I'm going to buy them now ? About 21K resistor I think that you used a 50K in parallel to 21K . I think that it´s a good idea use parallel resistor here. This resistor is a 3w and runs to around 45º. Edit update: 47K parallel to 21K, now I have 302Vdc. Some pics ☺️My amplifier is not finished yet. I have not been able to order the wiring, finish the LEDs, etc... Megatron and my "Universal HV PSU" P.S. yes, I know, the appearance of all my amplifiers are the same. ? P.S 2º this amp runs HOT like hell

  3. I've had a Soekris dac1541 since late summer last year (~9 months or so). It's really good. I made a volume-matching AB (not ABX) switching box, and I could not hear much difference between the 1541 and a Gumby. Sold the Gumby, it's not worth the desk space and it has fewer features (not to mention it has that obnoxious relay that snaps loudly at night in a quiet house when it has no USB signal lock). The original filters are pretty neat and have audible differences — admittedly with sighted testing, but that's way more than I can say for any other filter-switchable DAC I tried. I also recently picked up an RME ADI-2 DAC to play with its DSP. Very neat device. The built-in parametric equalizer works well. I've never heard a 007A+Carbon combo thump this hard after I EQed it to (as best I can without a measurement rig) match the Harman curve (based on Tyll's old measurements of the 007). On the downside, I think it increases listening fatigue somewhat, so it's probably not ideal for long listening sessions. For short periods (like 30min or so), it sounds pretty fantastic and impressive. With all DSP turned off, I cannot hear meaningful differences between the ADI-2 and the dac1541, but I must admit I didn't try very hard.

  4. That back plate is.1". I'm using low profile socket cap screws for that.

  6. You can countersink 2mm thick panels, but you often need to use undercut screws.

  8. Power LED indicator has been expanded to 3mm and I moved everything up by a couple mm to give more room under. Unless there's any glaring errors I consider this my final variation. If anyone still wants a case and hasn't ordered one, please contact me immediately.

  9. Kerry countersunk his: johnwmclean countersunk all but the Neutrik jack holes. I'm ok with only the corners countersunk, or whatever. John's panels were 2.5mm thick. Not sure on Kerry's but they look about that as well.

  10. My megatron is already working. A couple of details: 1. HV 456Vdc and -452Vdc instead of 300Vdc I have 267Vdc, should I change the 21K resistor (I prefer something in parallel to it) or can I leave it running with 267Vdc? 2. Offset is between 40 and 29Vdc although the balance is about 5 and 7Vdc. With this offset I have not dared to listen to it. Should I change the output tubes? 3.Amp runs hot, very hot, very very hot ... no pets friend

  12. Everyone is sorted... Geez that was a ton of boards. I'll head to the store tomorrow for envelopes after I sort those who didn't order a TKD pot.

  14. http://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=577DCA0C77 This is GG BOM I made for one board. Please check. Please note: Need 1 pair of 2sk170 or LSK389, which is NOT included in BOM. grid resistor changed from 470R to 10K. I asked Kevin he replied there shouldn't be difference and higher value would be safer when the tubes fail. (T2 use 22K) servo op changed from op27 to TL081 simply because latter is cheaper. mounting kit, IC socket, pins, tube socket NOT included. Zener changed to 18V.
