1. If diy is not out of the picture, a two way genelec style floorstander with beyma 12p80nd midwoofer and waveguided seas t35 tweeter is what I'd go for.
2. Quick question: can you take out the LEMO and XLR connectors from the Sennheiser HD800 balanced cable and reuse them for another cable or are they glued?
3. Who heard the Dynahi or the GSX mk2 vs the original Headroom Blockhead? Here's one on eBay, 9h left: http://www.ebay.com/itm/141368362733
4. If anyone still cares about the thread title, the Headroom UDAC is on sale for 599$. That's a small, lightweight, balanced DAC and it sounds great.
5. 8" is the perfect size for a slate.
6. IMO you can't have enought attachments for the Kirby ... like the one for taking out dust mites out of the couch and the one for walls, and the furry one for books.
7. I have a Kirby, it's solid, simple to use and cleans well.
8. Hfx micro case and heatpipe cooler, cheapest itx lga1155 motherboard that has the ports you want and an i3 2120t, corsair m4 ssd, 8gb ddr3 or if you want to spend wait for ivy and you can run a quad core fanless with the asus z77 itx deluxe with wifi, bluetooth, msata ssd and 2.5“ storage hdd in the same fanless case
9. there's a battery powered version too (dac talent bd), and an upgraded output stage for it (ivc-01) ...
10. Thanks! That's just what my new amp needs.
11. I need some pointers please.
12. Losing money on a 400$ mod of a headphone? Oh, the horror!
13. Now they have the 999$ server model mini with two hdd's and leopard server included. Put 2x2tb in there and run raid1 for data safety ... a really nice music server.
14. LOL, what's with the 600 pounds prices on ebay?
15. Now you need a Stax DAC Talent BD with the special discrete output stage upgrade.

did anyone hear that open baffle hybrid that tekton makes? they seem awfully proud of it ... but by far the most interesting is the small open baffle subwoofer ...

funny orycteropuss

The other speakers I mentioned are very good also, seas excel magnesium woofer + fountek neocd 3.0 ribbon + external crossover box with many options to tailor the sound (not to mention you can replace it with active crossovers and play with computer based room corection with digital woofer amp + tube tweeter amp). If you're the semi-diy type and go active crossover, you can also replace the ribbon tweeter with one you like better ... you basically get a complete speaker for what you would pay for excel and fountek drivers ... there's no better deal I know of if you're looking at buing new.

And, if you are talking about cheap as chips and tasty as steak passive monitors, here's the best deal I know of: XTZ 99.26p - 1000$ a pair XTZ | Bookshelf speakers • 99.26 P
20. eugenius replied to Aura's topic in Speakers
If you are talking about powered monitors in the 2000$ range, they don't come much better and a much better deal than the Focal SOLO 6 BE: CR Focal Solo 6 be + DDDAC 1543 et Photos - HiFi & Home Cinema - Video & Son - FORUM HardWare.fr
21. no, thanks! tried that. Which one do you like better and why?
22. Since those two are about the same price, what's best as a DAC and as an AMP?
23. That's not a craptop. Train yourself to use onenote / evernote, mindmanager, a pdf adnotator app etc. Also, tablet + medical field = love. Find out why.
