  1. ^ a sigma22 could cure most, if not all, of that
  2. Those use a Marantz SACD-M1 transport. Probably have to go thru Marantz to get one. I'd agree that I would call and bitch, particularly if it isn't that long out of warranty. Even if it is, for a player in this class. Laser shouldn't be an issue for at least 10 years, more like 20 for a good one. EDIT: link to an audioasylum thread on this http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.mpl?forum=hirez&n=256745&highlight=sa-11s1
  3. A new washing machine
  4. Happy Birthday!
  5. Glad your power came back on! That is a bit of snow ...
  6. OK, those look familiar. When you have a voltage selector such as Nate does, but a common dual primary trafo where your only choices are parallel or series connection, what do you do? 100V and 120V are really the same for this type of trafo (I think?). Or this trafo only supports 120V? Same for 220-230-240V?
  7. Since you are in Hong Kong, you could also check thlaudio and vt4c as well. Nate: wiring. I guess I've never understood what is different between 100V and 120V, and between 220V and 240V in terms of the primaries? Nothing from what I can see? Its either parallel or series? Also, the datasheet tells you what switch contacts go with which position to the left of the diagrams.
  8. ^ Michael Percy Audio? They are the only ones who have the original stuff AFAIK. Vampire discontinued it because their supplier wanted huge orders (or something like that). I have no idea what guage would be appropriate? Percy has 20ga listed (in clear or red) at $2/ft. They also list 18ga in black or red. Would Neotech UPOCC be too stiff (solid core)? That might be a better choice if you are limiting this to "wonder wire"
  9. Ditto x3. Hope your mom's surgery goes smoothly Bryan.
  10. Current out DACs want to see an extremely low (i.e., dead short) input impedance on their output. Hence the use of the term "virtual ground" in the NAIM paper. If it were a voltage out DAC, you would be correct.
  11. Whut? That doesn't seem right? Possibly an error in the writeup...
  12. ^ The CEO said that? Damn, he knows Dinny
  13. Happy Birthday!
  14. Sorry to hear that Bryan... my condolences to you and your family.
  15. Ditto to both!
  16. Nate, Looks like you want the X Dual Voltage Selection rather than the S, so something like a Corcom PE0SXS000 rather than the PE0SSS000 you ordered. I see they also have an interconnect module which connects all the rear connections for you.
  17. Well, you can just send me the parts and then they won't bother you anymore
  18. Thanks for the offer. I've been building this thing for well over a year, collecting parts as I go along. The only thing I need for the amp boards are a matched set of output devices, but I have that covered (I think). The sigma is almost done, and I bought the tranny quite awhile ago, as well as the diyhifi case. Amp boards are all PRP/Roederstein resistors, pana FMs, etc. TKD pot, unless I decide to look at that Arduino thing or do a DACT or something. I wanted to keep this one rather simple though. I have to build one of my modified e12 boards with the mute switch/LED drivers like I did for my Dynalo, but I either have to have the PCB made or etch one. I am leaning towards using a Bulgin dual color switch, so I'll have to think about that (ε24/σ24 probably), and other minor items. I was amusing myself with my machinist fail last weekend in making the brackets for the PCBs to heatsinks, but they turned out serviceable and look pretty good I'll post a couple of chassis layouts for critique later. I'd like to put one amp PCB on each heatsink, but not sure if that is going to work out or not. Case is a Pesante Dissipante 2U 300mm with both silver and black 10mm faceplates... probably go with black for this one.
  19. Thanks. I always thought Veda was gsferrari only, and that sft had his own? At any rate, from what I recall, I thought sft's looked the best of the ones I had seen. Mine is going to be a 2ch in a single case (2U Pesante Dissipante with a single sigma22 psu and SumR encapsulated tranny), so no internal heatsinks, etc. I had seen amb's build, but since I am going single case, not applicable so much.
  20. Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but does anyone have internal pics of Dynahis? I'm working on layout for mine and was interested to see what others had done, particularly something like an sft-built one or similar. Even pics to show me how not to do it would be fine EDIT: I found some pics of Todd's... still would like some of one of sfts, particularly with the LCD display.
  21. Did you order the one I linked or another? I just placed an order for a couple of things. I notice they have really nice pricing on Bourns 3296W trimpots, and some 3299W values as well. Some stuff they aren't so good on though.
  22. FN-372-6-6Amp Power Entry Module / EMI Filter fused-Electronic Surplus Inc.Offering obsolete IC's, discretes, motors, relays, switches, pots, and much, much more! Always looking for your excess inventory. If you search on Schaffner, there are a couple of other variants as well.
  23. Good idea for a thread Nate. Re: the Schaffner FN370, I just ran across a surplus site with some of these (and they don't seem to have a min. order?). Doug: Any particular IEC with switch and fuse that you like? I seem to prefer 5x20mm fuses these days, but not a requirement.
  24. Search wasn't working for me earlier, and then started working somewhat but was missing some known hits (that I could find using google externally).
  25. Happy Birthday!
