i think this is a poor requirement for the pleb-amp, but that's just me.

I'd use a mosfet CCS, like the BHSE uses. If you want to do some R&D, then an opto-coupler biased CCS would be my choice... or, add another tube and do a pentode CCS.

I like Audio Consulting stuff in general. They do know how to make transformers.
