Ribbons aren't usually the lowest distortion type of driver though, that's the main drawback I've found.

the only thing I've noticed with solder is it can get very dirty. I'm not sure if this is dirt, or some chemical reaction or what. This presents problems when soldering as the flux tries to eat this away and the joints end up rather crusty. You'll notice this when it happens though.

I figured given voltage and current, the Vf of the LED would change. So, if I had a supply of 100V and 18mA current through the LED this would be different than if I had a supply of 5V and 18mA. Now I'm doubting that gut instinct, as that wouldn't make the greatest voltage reference huh

I was thinking the whole time, where's the rest of the orchestra (admittedly from a volume standpoint) Doug: I asked about this a while back, but can you give a voltage and current so that we can model the LED Vf before dropping it in?

Craig, what's your opinion of Solti Mahler 1 / LSO / Decca? Listening to it now on vinyl with this amp and loving it. Need to grab some more Shosti though, this thread has reminded me of that.

I'm thinking about using 26 awg for everything except the heaters. Assuming appropriate voltage rating and temperature rating, would this be okay? Quick check of charts say 2.2A for chassis wiring and 361mA for transmission is rating for this size..

is this happening?

I have a strange problem I cannot seem to fix. My mail is stuck. It just hangs like it's processing a very large attachment or something. When I check the status messages is shows that it's trying to retrieve mail... it seems to be transferring lots of stuff, but even if I let it sit for days, it never updates. I'm using gmail for this particular account. Any ideas?

Something like that. Smaller scale in our backyard. Doing decking now, just drove in 300 decking screws, going to Home Depot to see about getting a cheap corded drill to help out my aging battery packs. I'm hoping this squares things up a bit, then I need to work on leveling the ground a bit (of course that's what is off, not MY handiwork)...

Heh, I'm too embarassed to even ask questions at this point. The main problem I think is all my levels aren't level and my squares aren't square and my measuring tapes have the wrong numbers printed on them
