  1. How long has this company been around? Would it by definition be FOTM due to this fact alone? Will they survive as long and continually be producing top quality products as say a Krell?
  2. That's exactly what I need!
  3. On second thought, the Fountek JP3 might come close to the domes mentioned above, as well as the Raidho planar.
  4. Be careful not to overgeneralize. The order of the distortion as well as how the driver is integrated is very important. Also, you might come to find that other factors are more important than raw harmonic distortion numbers anyways.
  5. Very nice!
  6. Tough to beat the SS 9800, Vifa xt25tg, Peerless HDS for example..
  7. Ribbons aren't usually the lowest distortion type of driver though, that's the main drawback I've found.
  8. (raises hand)
  9. the only thing I've noticed with solder is it can get very dirty. I'm not sure if this is dirt, or some chemical reaction or what. This presents problems when soldering as the flux tries to eat this away and the joints end up rather crusty. You'll notice this when it happens though.
  10. I figured given voltage and current, the Vf of the LED would change. So, if I had a supply of 100V and 18mA current through the LED this would be different than if I had a supply of 5V and 18mA. Now I'm doubting that gut instinct, as that wouldn't make the greatest voltage reference huh
  11. I was thinking the whole time, where's the rest of the orchestra (admittedly from a volume standpoint) Doug: I asked about this a while back, but can you give a voltage and current so that we can model the LED Vf before dropping it in?
  12. Craig, what's your opinion of Solti Mahler 1 / LSO / Decca? Listening to it now on vinyl with this amp and loving it. Need to grab some more Shosti though, this thread has reminded me of that.
  13. Jacob's blend in a Sav churchwarden
  14. I can supply said tape if anyone wants to try this. Good idea in fact.
  15. But you know people!
  16. Looks just difficult enough for 50% of HFers to f-up.
  17. I'm not sure those are compensation caps. They look like an input filter.
  18. I'm thinking about using 26 awg for everything except the heaters. Assuming appropriate voltage rating and temperature rating, would this be okay? Quick check of charts say 2.2A for chassis wiring and 361mA for transmission is rating for this size..
  19. is this happening?
  20. how about not posting
  21. This cryptic item: 08272726 NO.6X.169PILOTX4-5/8" HSS SS CAPSCREW C/BORE
  22. I have a strange problem I cannot seem to fix. My mail is stuck. It just hangs like it's processing a very large attachment or something. When I check the status messages is shows that it's trying to retrieve mail... it seems to be transferring lots of stuff, but even if I let it sit for days, it never updates. I'm using gmail for this particular account. Any ideas?
