  1. Happy Birthday Nums - cheers --
  2. Vivaldi: The Four Seasons Sr. Neville Marriner, Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields (1969) https://album.link/i/1440760209 Example: Classic version of a classic. I tend to forget Vivaldi lived during the baroque period with Bach. I think mainly that I hear too many modern recordings that change it too much. But getting back to this 1969 Sr Neville and the Academy, it sounds right, and sounds baroque. It works well when it looks like this outside.
  3. Yessonata by Rick Wakeman (2024) https://album.link/i/1776904691 Example - well there is only two songs 20min each - this is the first one: Must be my birthday - again.. If you like Yes themes - which I do, on piano - which I do, you too might like - like I do.
  4. Complete Concerto Recordings by Martha Argerich & Claudio Abbado (2015 box set) https://album.link/i/1452345247 Example - No way to pic a sample - so here is the ad: Just under 5 hours - includes: Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Major, Op. 26 (Sergei Prokofiev) Piano Concerto in G Major, M. 83 (Maurice Ravel) Piano Concerto No. 1 in E Minor, Op. 11 (Frédéric Chopin) Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-Flat Major, S. 124 (Franz Liszt) Piano Concerto in G Major, M. 83 (Maurice Ravel) Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-Flat Minor, Op. 23, TH 55 (Pyotr Illitch Tchaïkovski) Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 37 (Ludwig van Beethoven) Piano Concerto No. 25 in C Major, K. 503 (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor, K. 466 (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) I am not sure how many would rank at the top of my lists for these works, but all would be very high. The recordings from 1967,1968 are really fun. And I of course have to not spend my time listening to the mixing and mastering differences from DG over the decades.
  5. November Basho Time!!! I will have to look for some streaming - but for now - highlights (three days so far) They don't allow embedding - so for the one person interested - link to day one: https://youtu.be/BeLHG5VuSjY?si=qygeCLPePOVTJMwI
  6. Duets by Kevin Eubanks & Stanley Jordan (2015) https://album.link/i/960015276 Example: I lost track of Stanly in the 90's he stopped for about 12 years or so, and I didn't pickup that he started again in the 2000's. Anyway my friend let me know that he listened to the "Friends" album (2011). Which I will get to, but I was more interested in this colab first. I really liked this mellow album.
  7. I couldn't wait too long - just had a sample - super yummy - super happy.
  8. Second run at smoked salmon - so I did two... cured for about 16 hours - smoked @185F for just under 3 hours - internal 145F I hope that I got the salt level right - was too high on the first try. I would sample but I am full of pork belly right now...
  9. hehe - Turned 57 - but I still have a few birth years and a 60yo waiting in the wings. So I will run out soon - but I have not run out yet. :} Oh and a birthday present to myself showed up today. The completely ridiculous tall nosing glass: Riedel Superleggero Spirits Feels like I could snap it with my fingers. But it is just a bit of fun, Testing with an newly opened (old bottle) Glenmorangie Traditional 1L 57.2%.
  10. Smoked pork belly
  11. Been waiting for this interview for a while - Rick (B) has been posting shorts last week or so..
  12. uuummm ... nope...
  13. Birthday dram: Mortlach 1942/50yo 40% {book of the kells label}
  14. Breathing Space by Hackberry (2023) https://album.link/i/1667406320 Example: New to me, a new band out of the Netherlands. Prog rock - but instrumental only. Liked the grooves, liked the solos, liked the transitions. All good.. (4 songs = 50 min)
  15. Body Heat by Quincy Jones (1974) https://album.link/i/1443141710 Example: Bernard Purdie's voice is so sweet on this track. Discovering Quincy's transition from the Jazz side to the soul side. Of course he did it very well. Sad that it was his passing the was the spark for my discoveries, but happy to be here regardless.
  16. Juju Jubilee by Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey & His Inter Reformers Band (1985) https://album.link/i/1565283299 Example: What I really needed.
  17. Don't know why I needed to listen to this today... Destroyer by Kiss (1976) https://album.link/i/1440854205 Example: So there was that...
  18. Gives me so much anxiety...
  19. Because reasons: Sinatra At The Sands by Frank Sinatra (1966) https://album.link/i/1440842924 Example: And words for Mr. Jones RIP
  20. Chiaroscuro by Darol Anger (1985) https://album.link/i/1201476217 Example: I came across a clip of Darol playing with Britney Haas the other day. And I was like I know Darol, I use to listen to him back in the 80's. I still have several Windom Hill LPs. So this is the stuff I listened to in the 80's along with Animotion (look that one up kids).
  21. I would agree - It is - One of the headphones...
  22. Written In The Stars by Bill Charlap Trio (2000) https://album.link/i/723534675 Some 2000 jazzy jazz on Blue Note? - you bet. Mastered by Ric Wilson, and yup, sounds good... Mostly standards, but has a lot of weight to the tracks.
  23. The Haunting of Hill House (2018) I know I am late to this and it is a little on the nose for Halloween viewing - but it was also good.
