Sorry about the unexpected and annoying expenses, V. Mayberry still has one fuse box in a closet covering some of the oldest knob and tube wiring in the house.

I like that muddler a lot. It is a good shape and very functional, but I wish the wood were denser and therefore had more heft. The Tap-Icer is the shizz. And remember -- vibrate -- don't pound! Good advice in many contexts.

Anvil - 3 Hot Buttered Rum a la Stork 1.5 oz Jamaica rum (Appleton V/X -- still don't like this rum) 1 lump sugar 1 small pat of butter (unsalted) 4 cloves Pour ingredients into mug or old fashioned glass and then fill with boiling water. Meh. Warm and all that, but I just don't dig on the hot drinks for the most part. And then there were two.

Anvil List in 4 Mint Julep following the Stork Club Bar Book recipe and specifically a slightly less insane version of the author's preferred recipe, which is offered as an alternative to the usual 2 oz bourbon recipe. 4 oz Jack Daniels proof bourbon (2 oz Pappy Van Winkle 19 yo Cask cask) 2 oz cognac floated on top (1 oz Maison Surrenne) 1 tsp sugar (1.5 tsp simple syrup) 4 sprigs mint Mash with muddler. Fill silver mug with shaved ice, decorate with sprigs of mint, add straws and a green cherry. I had no silver mug or green cherries so I just went with a cut glass tumbler, a big bunch of mint and a straw. The Pappy and Surrenne were serene together. I also took the effort of cracking my ice cubes with the Tap-Icer that has been in use in this house for more than 45 years and probably before that. Here is a pic because it is so cute.

Mac Mini 2.66 hz processor to be the new Amarra machine. JP says he can put in an SSD and memory upgrade, so we shall see. My parents get last year's model.

So, I made the Arnaud's with Edradour, Dubonnet Rouge, and Fees Orange Bitters and it seemed like it was tasty but I drank it so fast it is hard to say. I then decided that I needed a comfort drink so I made a Manhattan with Willett's awesome 2yo cask strength rye, which I found the other day for $35 and need more than the two bottles I bought, Dolin Rouge and Fees Cherry Bitters. I skipped the fruit garnish with both of these drinks because I wasn't in the mood.

Is that the name of a cocktail, because I think I need another one.

Yeah, we're moar hard core! Anvil Fail I'm personally so hard core that I took nice pictures of the Ramos Fizz I made tonight and then deleted them without posting one! I uploaded them onto a laptop because my son was on the iMac (where they belong), but because the laptop hard drive is maxing out and the iMac was now free I not only deleted them from that iPhoto but also emptied the trash. I only remembered that I had clicked "Delete Photos" at the end of the prior upload when I saw that there weren't any pictures on the card. A fizz is meant to be drunk quickly, and I had obliged wholeheartedly so it was too late for any re-do. I'm still claiming credit for this one because I am down to 4 drinks on the Anvil List and I want to be done. I'm making an Arnaud's Special right now damnit!

I'm not the most knowledgeable computer person around here by any stretch, but if you need to do all that shit on the road, you won't be able to do it well or at all with a Macbook, so you might have to get the Macbook Pro and build a server.
