Right now, I cannot use the iPad with Citrix because my firm has not yet installed some new Citrix Gateway hardware and it will be a few months. We are typically a ways behind the tech curve. I may wait it out. Who knows.

I have to admit to thinking about a Macbook Air instead of an iPad for travel and such. It's only 3 pounds and the iPad is 1.5 without a keyboard/case/etc. The only people I know that have the damn things absolutely love them.

If you buy two more iPads, upon receipt there will be an immediate announcement by Apple that they were just kidding with that MBP refresh notice. The real MBP will be 13", with an i7 stock, and a new carbon fiber body that weighs 1.5 lbs. Oh, and it comes with a free iPad even though the price will be lower than the prior 13" Macbook.

Some good choices already, of course, and Ron Carter and NHOP are among the tops. I think of all these guys as great contemporary bassists, although I am not sure all meet your Ray Brown criteria, per se.
