What's in da baaaahhhhhxxxxx? Some parts. Darker blue than we thought. Happiest kid in the world in this moment. **BRENT**

  • Liked the Turbo Vado Super Light so much, I bought another one in Michigan. Same silver and black. We couldn't find Claire an SL in Northern Michigan or online so we got her the  regular Turbo Vado 5.

  • I bought an e-bike. Specialized Turbo Vado 5.0 Super Light 2022 edition. Claire got a 4.0 step-through.

Small rant... WHEN THE HECK IS A LITTLE SPRING WEATHER GOING TO GET TO THE NORTHEAST?!?!?!?  It's getting tiring to suit up in booties and other sh--- er um I mean cold weather gear just to get out for an hour here and there.

^ Thanks that made me smile:-)

Grrr. Weather was supposed to be crap today but decent tomorrow. Now it's steady rain and cold through Monday. I don't even have all my dry riding kit, much less wet weather gear.

Similar weather to last weekend but in light of the forecast (no change on the horizon) I said fuck it and went out for a short ride anyway.  The 20+mph wind gust (out of the West) sucked for the last part of the ride.

Nice work Nate.

Hoping to get out tomorrow morning. So stressed from work and busy helping my 7 month pregnant wife that I just have not been making the time to get out.

I am about to head out for a short ride now and hope to have a bit of a ride tomorrow.  I have not put many miles on any of the bikes this year.

Got measurements for the Kirk done, raised my saddle on my Gunnar a bit more, made appropriate other adjustments, and all felt great on my ride this afternoon -- finally no weight on my hands unless I want it.  It was really windy, but I felt good.  My ankle has done great the last two weeks.  Now I just have to get my legs back in shape.  Very happy.  Hoping for a wonderful ride tomorrow.

Sorry for the sucky weather for you northern guys.

Jeff you are more than welcome to come over here and join the shop ride at 9 am. It is a no drop affair but does have significant amounts of climbing.

Edit: great news Vicki

Awesome Vicki, here's to more progress on your ankle! :dan:

Here's a little bit of a race of a friend of a friend.  Nate, Chris, Mike, Jeff, JP... anyone know what gear he's using? Why aren't you guys posting this yet? ;)

Got in 2.5 hours this morning in the cold. It was suitably hard and I had leg cramps for the last half hour or so. Also cleared 200lbs this morning

Nice!  I did the same loop as yesterday except is was 10 degrees warmer with 10mph lower winds.  Felt like the first decent riding weather we've had this year.

Did a short 7 mile ride on the Cervelo.  Managed to drop 7+ seconds off several PRs.  The Cervelo just feels so fast and responsive after riding the DeSalvo and Calfee the last few rides.

Glad you enjoyed the ride Jeff. Race ready carbon bikes are the good stuff.

If only I could get race ready.  I was trying to keep my cadence up over the 85 I managed last time but it wore me out pretty quickly.  Not sure I am going to be up for a long ride for the Tour de Cure at this rate.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself Jeff. Don't worry about RPM either way and ride what you find comfortable.

is it better to train at high cadence?  i've found i prefer high resistance, lower RPMs for the same calories/hour at least when it comes to spin class for cardio

Higher cadence is easier to deal with accelerations and small hills etc. It is also easier on the knees. Go with what works

Edited by Dreadhead

High cadence also tends to not fatigue the body quite as much over the length of a ride.  And it is WAY easier on the knees.  Jeff which tour de cure ride are you going to be doing?  I'm signed up with a group of guys from work here in upstate NY for early June.
