There used to be the opposite thing in Japan (certainly back in the 80s), where businessmen would go to the pub in the city after work. Except that sounded like a lame excuse to their spouse. So there was a service that would play the sound of a train station in the background, so you could phone your spouse from the pub, while telling her there were train cancellations and you were having difficulty in getting home.

 Cheers to that.  I’ve said it elsewhere and I’ll say it here:  good on you, kudos, etc.  And if you’re a recovering alcoholic, stay strong and congratulations on staying strong.  I have several teetotaler friends, and often teetotal when I’m with them.

I'm very sad to say that Bob Weightman, the world's oldest man, died yesterday two months after his 112th birthday after a short battle with cancer. Peacefully in his sleep.

RIP Bob. An astonishingly long life well lived.
