November 17, 20196 yr I wonder how they’re related. I saw Chromatics merch briefly in the Glass Candy vid.
November 17, 20196 yr So... it turns out I had Jenny Lewis confused with Juliette Lewis... like, forever. Whoa. This changes everything
November 17, 20196 yr Mashups – I need to get back to making music... these videos popped up after I was researching keyboards on YouTube today (the Yamaha Montage 8, Roland FA-08, and Korg Kronos X). Time After Time – Frank Sinatra / Earth Angel – The Penguins / Sh-Boom – The Crew-Cuts: Commodores / Maroon 5: Edited November 18, 20196 yr by HiWire
November 20, 20196 yr The guitar solo was worth the listen.. Sent me down a rat hole of listening to about 9 live versions of this from the 70s. I found this one fun - Not a super long solo (but good) And da Funk! - and fun to see the changes from 75 and 77 Both boots - and not great sound.
November 20, 20196 yr ^^^ My brother was at that Boston show....he said it was one of the best concerts he's seen.....
November 28, 20196 yr Been a while... Happy Thanksgiving! Bamboléo – Gipsy Kings (1987) Edited November 28, 20196 yr by HiWire
November 28, 20196 yr I was just talking about the Gipsy Kings. My ringtone is Rodrigo y Gabriela, but it’s out of context, and someone was asking about it, and I told them the closest reference point that they might be familiar with is Gipsy Kings. I need to listen to them more. Thanks for the share.
November 28, 20196 yr The music just popped into my head randomly this afternoon. I didn't even know how to spell Bamboléo until today. ? Now I've got a couple of Gipsy Kings albums in my basket. Some of their back catalog CDs seem to be out of print, but they are still available on Amazon and probably the various digital and streaming formats. Nuevo flamenco, here I come! December 13, 20196 yr Weird as shit performance from Grimes (Bollywood/cyberpunk?). Can't lie though, the song is kind of catchy.
December 14, 20196 yr I really wanted to like that, it came VERY close.....but I kept on coming back to a word used a lot in the days of Punk rock: Poseur.....
December 14, 20196 yr I like weird music. Don't like associating drugs with music, but I did grow up in the 70's, so it's hard not to laugh at the joke. "You know what would pair well with drugs? More drugs." I lollered. And then I watched the video, and lollered all over again. It's just an envelope or a slow LFO into the pitch of a synthesizer, though, it's difficult to make that sound musical, but it's doable.
