Also if it's anything like my mv you get the fun of Italian engineering. Random little things going wrong, then not being able to get parts. I rode without glass in my right mirror housing for 6 months because the damn company was bankrupt.. again. Then I couldnt just buy the plastic part with the glass on it and snap that back in the housing. I had to buy the whole damn mirror, housing and integrated turn signal. 360 dollars later. Oh and it's not like I did something to break the glass. I was on a smooth street when it just randomly fell out. Because, you know Italians.

And I fucking married one tool so maybe I'm just a masochist.

But I did love my brutale and my wife too I guess.

  • First day in two months the high has been below 55 and first day in almost 3 its snowed.  Hopefully this bad luck isn't a sign of how things will go with the new toy i just took delivery of..

  • I learned a ton and had a blast at my Driver's Academy class on Saturday. There were 24 students, about 16 of the 24 were teens and young-twenty-somethings and the other 8 of us were older drivers. Fo

Rode another strange one today.  Cold as hell but a motorcycle with Dual Clutch transmission and trigger shifting is kind of interesting.  Seemed like a pretty good deal at the much lower starting price than the BMWs and Triumphs of the world.  Less comfort tech like heated seats, etc. but seemed like a good all around bike.

I'd argue Honda motors are as good as they get.  Bullet proof stuff.

Yeah, not a fan of the looks, but the reliability seems to be a plus.  Trying to find someone that has the Kawasaki KLZ1000 Versys and the Yamaha FJ-09 to try to check out the rest of the Japanese bargains.

I think Ken takes out the Honda Rebel for longer rides. I suggest buying the one that Brent drools after most.

Rode the Yamaha FJ-09 and found it to be a sports bike that was tall and had bags. So much more fun to ride than everything else I have tried. Now I just need to decide if the elitist in me can settle for such a Brent level bike.

Just get two and out one in the spare room so I can't have it.

I guess Brent level is kind of harsh. Probably 4-5 Brent cars in value.

I wanted to try it but the closest one is in Winsconsin and while it is a good overall bike, it is slower and more top heavy like a adventure bike where this is more of a Sport Touring.

No R1200RS love, Jeff?

If you're not hitting any dirt I don't get the appeal of an adventure bike since, as you noted, they tend to be overly tall.  I assumed since that was the vein you appeared to be going down that you wanted/needed the suspension travel.  But if pavement-only works, I'd revisit both BMW and maybe even Ducati.  There are probably others to look at and ride, but I generally lust hardest for those two unless you've got a local Aprilia dealer...

My motorcycle buddy rides the 1200RS and loves it and it is always a possibility.  I am holding out for next weekend as the BMW shop is doing a big demo day with specials but they only have one GS and no RS to test ride if you just walk into the store outside of their demo day.

I rode the Multistrada and it had the worst throttle, by far, of any bike I tried.  It was a strange off and on drive by wire that made slow parking lot kind of riding very difficult.

Throttle by wire sucks.  Lived that dream...

Some of these bikes look amazing from a tech standpoint.  I'm struggling a bit with all the sharp angles incorporated...I'm digging the retro bikes posted earlier.  Old fart alert...

Fancy Robert Plant's DB5?

http://www.nicholasmee.co.uk/car-sales/8042079-aston-martin-db5-ex-robert-plant/

"There is no doubting the Aston Martin DB5’s classic credentials. With some justification it is often referred to as the most famous car in the world. DB5s adorn collections worldwide.

Of no doubt also are the credentials of Led Zeppelin. Rock anthems such as Stairway to Heaven, performed by Robert Plant CBE, have endured and with some justification. The band have become an icon of 20th century popular cultural.

The Aston Martin DB5 we are delighted to offer, chassis number 1744/R, was built in 1965 and found its way into Robert Plant’s ownership in the early 1970s. Robert Plant, a West Midlands resident, held ownership until the summer 1986, when it was sold to father and son collectors, also based in the West Midlands. Shortly thereafter the car was entrusted to Aston Martin agents, Chapman Spooner, for restorative works bringing the car to its current and exemplary condition.

Entered into a number of AMOC and local concours during the 1980s, the car remained in this ownership until 2008 when it was purchased by the current owner from Nicholas Mee & Co. Used very sparingly and kept in a controlled environment since 2008, yet regularly maintained by the owners local and respected Aston Martin Specialists. Mechanically excellent, with only the lightest signs of use, this iconic car can most accurately be described as having received, a Whole Lotta Love. [sic] "

Moved too far from downtown to not have a car, and I narrowed the list down to a Subaru or a Subaru, after realizing an AWD Wagon was what I needed. The BMW that was perfect was just too much of a risk... So I bought a turbo Vovlo.

Leaves me $$$ to buy a bike [emoji4]

Thanks for the find, Jeff.567a2f88cb3ef843a3858586b66c08a7.jpgf393cf57b29e2740ba271e600a47bbb8.jpg16f458142b9f2a47d3dcb7537dcef3b4.jpg

Got word today that ProPartsUSA has finished my double adjustable shock conversion on my front shocks. Should ship to me on Thursday or Friday.

Should be fun. They sent me the shock dyno charts but I really don't know what to do with them.

Find out what shop is the most reputable chassis tuner (ie suspension shop) in your area that does not rape customers. You’re generally looking for old school. Then speak to them about your ride, tires/wheels and how you track the car. Flash the girly pic of the shocks and wait for the magic...

HS

They arrived. Now to get them installed.

Edit: going to hold off for a bit given the condition of the roads around here right now.
