May 21, 201610 yr That looks awesome. On our end yesterday, mistakes were made. This is the kitchen sink torta at a little tacqueria / tortaria that had the hottest table salsa I have ever had. We should have taken Kliban's advice:

May 21, 201610 yr Ring sting is a terrible thing! Too soon, man, too soon. @Dusty: nope, this place is not in SF or Mayberry. Mikey could figure out the name, which would be good so that I never stumble back in there...
May 21, 201610 yr Aren't too many thing worse than a bad torta! There's a Salvadorian place in San Jose that serves great stuff except for their Mexico City style tortas. Lots of fried baloney and that's the good part. Talk about disappointing!
May 21, 201610 yr I went to a new taqueria a while back, and ordered cheese enchiladas. I kid you not...the cheese was cheese whiz. WTF?

May 22, 201610 yr Christened Julie's new sous vide with ancho chilli and tomato ground beef and chipotle pepper and tandoori/teriyaki marinated cubed chicken breast. Made corn tortillas at home as well. Tacos were all gone before I had a chance to take a picture or even have one. Either I misappropriated the meat allocation for the 7 people I was cooking for or they really liked it and wolfed it all down while I was making the tortillas for everyone. I hope it was the latter a great time was had by all. Now 4 chicken breasts (for a dried cranberry/walnut/grape/poppy seed/celery chicken salad), 2 chicken breasts (in a tandoori marinade) and a 3 lb brisket are taken a dip. Making brisket for the first time with beer (dogfish pale ale, suggestions for beer for future briskets welcome). Hope it doesn't taste too strong.

My ex (who is a fantastic cook) prefers non-hoppy reds. As for the rest: sounds delicious.

May 25, 201610 yr Last night at Girl and the Goat with Bryan, Allison and Debbie, these were just two of the ten wonderful dishes we had. Pig Face Pork Shank Some of the best food I've ever had. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
May 25, 201610 yr I'd eat that until the cows came home. Then I'd eat the cows. Looks amazing though. Is there braised pig cheeks or something under the egg? Veal tartare and lamb kebab for me tonight, with a negroni to start and some very tasty local grapes to round out the food groups. Really freaking good.
May 25, 201610 yr I'm eating my home-made weird Arrabiata/Puttanesca/chillia goulash thingy. Sofa king deli shuss.
May 26, 201610 yr Tilapia in basil and tomato sauce with cumin, chipotle peppers, garlic and cinnamon sugar in the meat Jacuzzi @140F for 15 min and then seared quickly on the cast iron pan. Made some rice pilaf and sauteed some onions, mushrooms and lettuce in marsala. Surprisingly good.
