I don't particularly care how an amp looks so long as it sounds good. Regardless, I think Andy hit the jackpot with that thing and it seems he's enjoying it a lot.
March 6, 200818 yr I love the look of that amp though. My ES-1 doesn't run all that hot Birgir. Man, your ES1 has FAR better looks than ES2 IMHO! Seriously, who has done careful A B testing with the two with approproate tubes, same cables, etc?
March 6, 200818 yr I think the ES2 case looks better. I like wood + satin brushed metal. Not a big fan of the lettering on either tho.
March 6, 200818 yr I think it looks great. If its even better with the HE90s than the ES-1,(which is as good as I have heard headphones) It would be the only temptation away from speakers out there for me.
March 6, 200818 yr I'm more interested in how it sounds. If it sounds good, I don't care how ugly it is. I don't think it looks as bad as others do. That said: Wood side panels, metal fascias == good; tri-color scheme (wood, silver, black), black screws/bolts/retainer clips/whatevers in otherwise light front panel == not so good. I'm thinking if he had gone with a black front panel, or with silver screws and a silver top, either of those choices would have been better.
