  • Turns out the damage was a bit more severe than a bad cable. They could still be repaired for less than the cost of a new pair, but not enough less that it seemed worth it. So new Etys are on the way.

  • That's because you're supposed to put them in your ears!

  • So the LCD3 Zebrawood showed back up tonight and I think I just bought a pair. Rob, you get the LCD5 and we'll compare and see if they're worth it, kay?

Here's what looks like a fantastic Audiogon bargain on a SOTA Star, ET linear tracking arm, and a Dynavector Karat MC w/ Ruby cantilever all for $1750. Of course, buying tables is always an extra risk due to shipping. The SOTA alone is an amazing TT that should bring over $1K easy, and that ET arm ain't cheap.

I dove into vinyl with a SOTA Star (of what looks like a similar vintage to this unit), and it's turned me into the raving vinyl fanboy I am today :)

Ah that is so tempting. I don't know if I'm a suspended TT type of person though, I could see myself tearing my hear out trying to dial it in :(

To paraphrase Nader on the Corvair for Seinfeld...

"Unsafe Not funny at any speed price."

I guess it's the good life for cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons across the street

Maybe they own the restaurant too. ;)

OK, so this is not in stock at the moment, but I've been watching the WD 2TB HD page at ZZF for some time now, and up until sometime very recently the price has held at $279, despite being OOS.

Still OOS, but the price is now listed as $179.

So there's potentially a nice sale to be had once the drive is back in stock.

I can get a prior generation Mac Mini 2.0GHz for $549 -- is it worth it, or do I really want to get the new one? I've already decided (to wait and get the new one, or possibly even a Macbook Pro), just want to hear others' thoughts.

depends on your goals, I guess. With a duet and just doing audio, I'd go with the cheap one, it does great. If you want to do the video stuff, or other stuff with it, it's probably worth it to get the new one, or any of the new systems with the upgraded video chip, since the next version of macos will make heavy use of them.
